Default Gas or Electric for P-40

I have bought a VQ P-40 and it is supposed to run a .61 2 cycle or a .91 4 cycle engine. I have been concidering using electric instead. I have never used electric moters and I was wondering what would be comp replacement for these engines to replace it wil an electric, and what would I need to do that, and is it worth it? any help in this would be appreciated

An E-flite power 60 would be the right electric motor for that plane. You would get 1200 watts using a 16-10 prop and a 6S 5000 mah battery pack. I get about 6-7 minutes flight time using this setup. You can fly longer if you go slow, but what's the fun in that

Would there be sufficient ground clearance on the P-40 to spin that size prop???

The 16x10 3-blade and Tru-Turn spinner just look right. I have the BH P-40 which has about 2 inches more ws and used a KMS 5331/10 with a 9S1P 2100 pack. I haven't flown yet, but expect about 6 min. 8 pound plane with 800 watts.

Waveguider28:
To answer the last part of your question:
E- Flight power 60 motor -130$
60amp esc-85$
castle ubec-( good idea for a plane this size)-20$
6s 5000mah lipo battery 300-400$
not having to deal with all the nitro mess-Priceless

On a P-40 you should go electric. it will be worth it, you wont have to buy gas, no gas over the plane to be cleaned and it reduces your "carbon footprint"

I dont mind about my RC carbon footprint when airliners run ghost flights with NO ONE IN using a vast amount of fuel

I did a full power test on my P-40 last night. 600+ watts into that 16x10 3-blade moves a lot of air. I still have to mount the battery and balance the CG to the right place. 2 minutes at full throttle used about 700mAh. I should get at least 6 min of normal flight from my 2100 mAh 9S1P pack.
