Separate BEC
Sounds dumb, but if you are running more than 4 servos, like in having retracts, how do you power up the receiver and all servos still have motor control? Suppose you want a separate battery for motors only, how do you control the throttle for the motor?

RE: Separate BEC
That is not a dumb question at all!
To see how to connect a separate BEC, which allows you to use just one battery in your plane, you can take a look at the instructions for one here:
[link=http://www.dimensionengineering.com/datasheets/ParkBEC.pdf]Dimension Engineering ParkBEC Installation Guide[/link]
If instead you use a separate battery to power the receiver and servos, you plug the second battery into any spare channel on the receiver. The ESC remains plugged into the throttle channel of the receiver as usual, but you disable the BEC in the ESC by disconnecting the power wire (usually the red wire) in the cable that runs between the ESC and receiver.
You can disconnect the red wire by pulling the connector pin for the red wire out of the ESC plug and wrapping it with tape or heat shrink.
