Okay Tom, here's the video of the E-Obsession flutter. It looks like the flutter was speed related. You were REALLY scooting along there when it broke.

RE: RCU Coverage of the 10th Annual NEAT Fair
This gets the "Matt Award" for most unique model at NEAT. It's a Republic XF-12 "Rainbow" from Zeke's Park Scale Models.
During World War II when this plane was designed, the "F" stood for "Foto" as in photographic reconnaissance. The Rainbow had a cruising speed of over 400MPH, and was faster than a P-47.
Unfortunately the Rainbow was doomed from the beginning. It was a technical marvel, but it was too expensive to produce for what it could do.
Zeke's rendition of the Rainbow is currently only a prototype, but there are plans to produce a kit.

I was amazed that the flutter happened as I was doing a slow high-speed roll. I thought it happened when I leveled off from the dive just before the roll but you can certainly hear it (flutter/crack) just as the roll begins. Interesting. Certainly speed had something to do with it giving... but I've done many of these in the past.
As a post note, I was notified by another Goldberg Obsession 3D owner that after he got home from NEAT this year, he checked his stab tubes and sure as heck, his were loose (up/down play)... possibly an inherent design issue. I have a feeling this was slowly giving... and low and behold, it gave at NEAT of all things. Luckily, she's fixed and will fly again this weekend!
Again,... thanks so much for the videos and pics you posted.

The Rainbow video is churning out right now, but in the meantime, here are some more shots of the activity on Sunday. This is Greg Covey's Byron A4 Skyhawk conversion.

Paul Weigand's Me 163 Komet was originally a glow powered model, and more proof that it's possible to make a glow model LIGHTER by converting to a modern electric power system.

RE: RCU Coverage of the 10th Annual NEAT Fair
Matt, Ed and Papa Jeff.
Debbie and I had an awesome time at the NEAT Fair and spending some time with the three of you simply added to our enjoyment of our “working weekendâ€. Shooting along side you guys made this years NEAT a little more of a blast for us.
As I see thus far your coverage is awesome.
If I do not see any of you at any of the events that I cover before the NEAT Fair this coming year, I will whole-heartedly be looking forward to seeing the three of you at NEAT 2010.
In the spirit of sharing, here is a shot of PaPa Jeff I got when he was not looking. This is the only place I am posting this image.
Till the next time.
Ta Ta for now.

Paul,
Your camera will never workproperly again. Especially after taking a shot of that "OLDDOG" Grandpa.
You better get it checked out at your local camera shop! LOL! We feel exactly the same about you and
Debbie, but we can't wait for a whole year, so we will see you soon, for sure. The group shots were
spectacular and we all thank you so much. Hey who is this "Man in Black?"

This beautiful, and immense, Moraine Saulnier A-1 made two demo flights over the weekend, and even took a few flights during the normal rotation. Built and flown by Dave Perrone.

RE: RCU Coverage of the 10th Annual NEAT Fair
Hi Matt,
Thanks for posting a video of the Byron A-4 Skyhawk conversion. I realize that with dozens of videos and thousands of photos to sort through that you will be very busy for weeks.
Here are a few of the photos I started going through from last weekend. The 2009 NEAT Fair was one of the most memorable events I have been to in years. Everything seemed to gel...including the weather. Tom Hunt and his SEFLI gang made everyone feel special and it was a pleasure to be part of this event. My AMP'D Team came with a dozen people and three trailers this year. We made the SKS video four times and walked away with two event trophies. Congratulations to Paul Weigand for his "Best in Scale" award and his grandson, Spencer Weigand, for his "Best Young Pilot" award.
Shown below is my jet pilot, Lynn Bowerman. Lynn flew the Nitro Models Predator UCAV for the Friday demos and the Byron A-4 Skyhawk for the Saturday and Sunday demos. Taking off and landing on the non-flying field grass with small jet wheels was our main concern before the event but the SEFLI team had the Peaceful Valley campgrounds in superb condition.
Our buddy, Shawn Spiker, from Hitec/Multiplex was there to demo some new designs that were flown off grass and water. Some of their upcoming products include a medium-sized electric helicopter and water-proof servos.
Dan Landis, and his father Richard, are two of the best representatives that this hobby could have. We missed Dan the last few years and we were extremely happy to see him make it this year. Dan was often worked like a "pack mule" on the flight line as he piloted many planes for the first time that were not his own, but you wouldn't have know it from the way they flew and landed.
Flying Models Editor, Frank Fianelli, stopped by to ask a few questions during my SKS video interview. Frank seemed like he was everywhere last weekend and is always fun to talk to.
The ex-FlightPower USA guys, Clint Atkins and Steve Rogers have joined the Castle Creations Team. Talk about a technical shot in the arm...these guys are very knowledgeable about the Castle products, electric power, and are as Southern-nice as they come!
AMA District II VP, Gary Fitch, was at the event. Gary's passion for any aspect of model aviation becomes apparent as soon as he starts talking. We always have fun when Gary visits our local events in upstate NY.
My AMP'D trailer was set up like a walk-through display. This year's theme was EDF jets. The second trailer was RCU's, Matt Kirsch, and the third was owned by Team JR's Devin McGrath's dad, Ron McGrath. Both Ron and Devin flew in the demo slots last weekend. Ron flew his beautiful F7F Tigercat and Devin flew the newly released Hangar9 Taylorcraft using an E-flite Power 160 motor.
I believe it was Robert Caso that took many of the Flying Styro models like this ME-262 and turned them into works of art!

A few of the ground planes on display at this year's NEAT Fair. Ok, one is a full scale. Some of the planes are brand new, some are several decades old, and some were originally flown with glow-power. A real tribute to the diversity of electric flight!

A few of the demo planes waiting to show their stuff. Matt Kirsch organized a 4-man SPAD Electric Combat Demo which was pretty entertaining. As Dan and Richard Landis went after each other, Matt and Ed Britton also looked to settle a score.
Jason "Flyboone" Cole relaxes before demoing the Su-34 Fullback Twin Vectored Thrust Jet EDF jet sold by Hobby Lobby.
The pilots meeting and demos got "AMP'D" this year.
Team Futaba = Team Landis
A 3-photo panoramic view is needed to cover the NEAT Fair. It was a beautiful weekend in the Catskills!

Some of the noontime demos are shown here.
Team Futaba's, Dan Landis struts around his huge 8KW Extreme Flight Yak powered by a motor from Reaper Brushless.
Three generations of Weigands keep an eye on the elusive Me. 163 Komet that can speed up to 140mph after ejecting the take-off gear!
An FPV (or POV) demo flown AMA-safe which includes a second pilot using a buddy box. I believe this won the "Technical Achievement" award this year at NEAT. When asked if they heard anything from outer space, the reply was, "No, but we're listening!" A good bunch with a sense of humor.
Team JR's, Devin McGrath put on a combination pattern-3D demo with his Quique Yak.
The popular Hobby Lobby candy drop was flown by Jason Cole using the 12' "Balsa Overcast" Telemaster.

RE: RCU Coverage of the 10th Annual NEAT Fair
That was my first time on the flightline as a NEAT demo pilot. Man, what a thrill to be up there on the line with all the industry heavy-hitters!
Do you think maybe those Landises have unresolved issues?
In our first foray on Saturday, Dan cut the streamer on Rich's plane.
On Sunday, Dad returned the favor. In fact, Rich got TWO cuts in that round. I'm thinking somewhere in that 40 years of experience, he's got some combat under his belt. We're not dealing with a rank beginner here.
Of course, yours truly smoked them all! Three cuts Saturday, and two more on Sunday

As an RCU exclusive, I video taped Team Futaba's, Dan Landis flying his stock GP Sequence F3A at the NEAT Fair. Dan only had one flight on it and no mixes set up. Overall, he says it flies very well. It is always exciting to watch him fly a pattern circuit!

How about a little change of pace, maybe something not so fast and not so aerobatic?
Orinthoper action! Nathan Chronister braved a stiff breeze with this 3' wing-flapper. There were more than a couple of exciting moments during the flight, which abruptly ended when it experienced an apparent drive failure. It looked like it landed safely, so it will definitely fly again.
