waterproofing with hot glue
I built a little twin motor foamy, and am planning on flying it tomorrow, but its snowing. One of the esc's doesnt have the heat shrink around it anymore so I am worried it will get wet, would it be okay to just put a think layer of hot glue around the whole thing?

Why hot glue, you may damage the equipment, why not use marine silicone sealant? I've used it for many years - even to fix servo's in place in smaller delta etc. It's strong glue and is meant for sealant - and no heat involved......... and easier to cut with a blade to remove later.....

I seem to recall reading that silicone sealants are bad news around electrical components and can cause corrosion.

RE: waterproofing with hot glue
why not use tool dip? Just dip the esc in it and let it dry. The only problem with this is that maybe cooling might be a problem. I have contemplated using that on servos for years for flying off the water. I haven't tried this yet but will experiment with it this spring.
Also, some hobby shops carry large diameter shrink tubing and that would definately work. You just don't want to get that esc soaking wet.
Good luck with it.
