Upgrading F27 Stryker, need help, noobie
Hi everyone, im new to electrics but been flying nitros for about two years. I got myself two electrics this weekend at a swap meet. A parkzone p51 and a used f27b stryker. I took my stryker out yesterday and its really slow, Im running a 11.1v 2100mah thunder power lipo in it. definitely not as fast as the newer f27c strykers. My question is i was looking at getting the eflite six series 2700kv brushless motor and a 40a eflite esc. and possibly running a APC 6x4 prop. problem is its going to cost me $120+ to do it. But is this a good setup. Im new to electrics and definitely dont want to fry something. What prop adapter would I need also.

I have an original F27 (before the B version), I bought it off a guy for $50. It flew like crap with the brushed motor and NiCd batts. I upgraded it with the stock F27C motor and prop adapter, HS-81MG servos, Castle 35 ESC, Spektrum 6100 receiver, and 3S 2200mAh LiPo batt packs. I had to cut the motor mount to fit the new/larger brushless motor. After I saw how well it flew with the BL/LiPo power setup, I bought an PNP F27C to have as a backup.
If you want a hotter than stock setup, definitely checkout the park flyer forum for high performance setups.
Also, if you are getting into electrics, invest in a Wattmeter, so you can check the max amp draw for your setup. That will help ensure you don't fry any of your components. You can play around with prop sizes to max out your speed/power while not exceeding any of your component limits.

You could be right on the ragged edge as far as motor (34A cont/42A burst) and ESC (40A) goes with 2700Kv and a 6x4 APC E:
Motor: E-flite Six Series 2700; 2700rpm/V; 2.05A no-load; 0.03 Ohms.
Battery: Thunder Power TP3200 (G4 ProRace 40C) (40C); 3 series x 2 parallel cells; 3200mAh @ 3.7V; 0.003 Ohms/cell.
Speed Control: Castle Creations Phoenix 60; 0.0012 Ohms; High rate.
Drive System: 6x4 (Pconst=1.17; Tconst=1) direct drive.
Airframe: Anything you want.
Motor Amps = 40.9
Motor Volts = 10.9
Input (W) = 444.9
Prop RPM = 24815
Thrust (oz) = 37.4
PSpd (mph) = 94.0
