Default can my esc be to big

I have a motor that requires a 40amp esc. I don't have one, but I do have a 60. Can I use that with no problems?

Bigger is almost always better
Providing extra headroom when selecting an ESC is always a good idea. In this case you will have 50% of headroom and a cool running ESC.
Good luck,
Pete

Thanks I appreciate the quick answer. I don't do much electric mostly glow and gas. This is for a flying W.

I'm far from an expert, and still new to the hobby.
I think your main concern becomes the extra weight.
4.0 ounces, vs 3.2 for an E-flite 40a ESC vs 60a ESC. Not a significant weight savings to go out and buy a smaller one when you have a bigger one already.
But, with small foam planes, a 60 amp @ 4.0 ounces weighs a lot more than a 0.8 ounce 10 amp ESC.
