Looking for a ultra small gearbox - PLEASE HELP
Hello people,
I have been looking for a ultra small plastic gearbox with a reduction ratio of 100:1 (or bigger) that matches brushed motors with 4mm or smaller diameter.
Plantraco sells it but that is still too small of a ratio for me.
Please see: http://www.microflight.com/Online-Ca...box-with-motor
Please let me know if you are aware of any.
Many thanks.

For such a ratio you will have to make one yourself, which is not as hard as it sound. but to achieve that ratio it will have to be 2 or 3 stages. A good source of small high quality gears is Didel in Switzerland:

There is also Homefly which is US based:

with that size of gears precision become very important to minimize losses but it can be done

You may have a hard time finding something with that high of ratio, especially with a 4mm motor. This is about as high as I've seen, but its for 6mm motors here. Otherwise, as coriolan and airraptor mentioned, a mutli-stage gearbox would be in order.
What are you using it for?
Nick
If going with coriolans idea of using a servo, all you would have to do to make it run constantly like a normal gearbox, would be take out the control board, and go directly to the motor wires. Pretty easy, but should work.
