neuro, I'm using the industrial strength velcro to hold the battery in the SS. I was thinking about putting lg on the a-j with it. Tim
It doesn't take much to get a good bond using these two products together.
I've got some simular velcro holding my battery in on my Ventura and had to
cut it down some because I couldn't pull the battery out. [:@] They used too
much of the stuff.
This works great on the AA lipo also. Now I'm trying to figure a way to use it
on the RX.

I have a question for the stalwarts of this thread, you have known me via this thread for many monthes, and should know that I will buy at least one of the x-twin line of product. Should we restrict this thread(I think thats a bad idea), try to keep it fairly focused on the aero ace products, with a little other stuff thrown in,(best idea imho), or free wheel like another thread I know(Another bad idea, for different reasons), I guess there is one more option, strictly focused, by plane threads. I really don't like that one. I'm assuming that the gear in these planes is going to be the same. I only want to post this info once. Not on every thread. Aero stuff is different, but again I post on the named thread and here. And put more technical stuff here. How do we want to play this? [sm=confused.gif]Tim

This forum has taken on a life all its own. I can't see limiting it in
anyway because you couldn't. I don't know how much there is still
left to explore with the AA but someone always seems to come up
with something different or new so in that sense it appears never
ending.
All the stuff mentioned is usefull in one way or another to modelers
either as to further ideas or to spark a building frenzy.
The problem really is to find the info you need. What you could do
is add some more info to the AA mods index thread. That helps cut
through much of the repitition.

Ferndale,

If the Rx you referred to has the BV4 or BV5 transistor its the same as the AA outputs.

If the Rx,Tx boards and motors are the same as the AA, then bacically its an AA with just a different airframe. All gear mods for the AA would apply.
If the jet goes to another thread, its just another one to have to watch/bookmark. Seems kinda redundant. IMO It wouldnt bother me just to have them here.

Well theyre selling it under the generic Aero ace but look in this thread for a pic of the box
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5278716/tm.htm
Also, snow+SL= amazing! we finally got our first snow and my SL is awesome! With about .5 in of snow it can run in my yard it is amazing to have such smooth transitions from grass to road. What does the cold do that makes it bad for the plane? aside from make tape not work! one of my pontoons hallf fell off during a run because the tape got so cold it didnt stick. Also, AJ's are great for touch and gos on a lightly snowed road just let it land and as it touches full throttle and it skids for about 5 ft and takes off. Im looking forward to making skis!

I know what you mean about touch & goes. I had my gull wing AA out last
night and it slides on ice patches and packed snow. I don't even think
I would need the skis, maybe some clear packing tape on the bottom and
it might just slide along for a take off. Although the skis might be needed
to keep it straight... don't know, never tried it.

Lumpa, I need more info. Generally, the wing extensions need to balanced in angle and length. Also, your wing area is now so large that wind will create a problem. If your flying in just a little wind and get sideways to the wind, it will flip your plane. I am assuming you put the wings on with the thicker part forward, if you put them on with the thin side forward all sorts of calamity will befall you. If you could post a pic I'm sure some one can help you. You could also check the aa mods thread near the top of this forum. Tim

Acro-jet review#2: With the a-j trimmed out I am starting to see some regular flying issues. 1: shorter range, I fixed this by pulling the rear of the plane apart and popping out about 1/2" of antenna out of the foam. I then tape the wire down and resealed the fuse with the same bit of tape. 2: You have to fly this thing! It is NOT self righting, if you put into a bank it will stay in a bank until you counter steer. I have added the stir sticks to the plane to minimze wing travel and this helps a lot, but you still have to fly the plane. 3: And this might sound silly, but the a-j is faster than it seems and bigger than a bipe or jet, Depth percection and judging distances is harder when flying.

Micro, the board is different on the new controllers. It's going to be really easy to change channels, but turn w/o throttle will need some redoing. Tim
I tried to get some decent pic's but tried is the operative word. Tim

Do you know what the pins for the positive ends of the diode go to? The ground goes to p12 I think, and I found that. Tim

Thanks Nick, that will be my next stop, probably. I was just going to do the side by side thing tonight, this should hurry it up. Assuming, I get it done tonight, I'll take a lot of pic's, hopefully one will be usable.

Dj, I have one. Let me know how you want to make the transaction. Tim[8D]

OK, I got the info I needed from rcg. I'm primarily interested in whether there is a difference in performance between the controllers. Tim

The Demoiselle is coming along slowly. The build on this plane
needs a different approach so I'm learning as I go along.
Using pins stuck into a foam insulation block helped to right the
wing, which will only be covered on top this time.
All I have is a couple of pics to go on so I'm guessing on the
measurements.
Still figuring how I'm going to strenghthen and brace everything,
so far it's very fragile.

neurotex, i think that Demoiselle is going to be one of your best looking birds, so far she looks great and its not even finished. i usually have a lot of patience when doing planes, but cutting out wing ribs like that drives me nuts! what is the tail made out of? i think covering only the top side of the wing will help keep that bird slower, whats the wing span?

FINALLY!!!! 57 pages in 2 hours and the mod thread is 100% up to date! now if everyone would just stop posting new ideas and planes, that would would be great (just kidding, of course!) i was scanning the text awfully fast so i may have missed one or two things, but i think i got pretty much everything else. hope it helps!

for some reason it wont let me edit my original post with the links in the mod thread, so for the time being i'm going to hold off posting the updates untill i can get one of the mods to either delete my post of links, or add all the new stuff. i already sent a PM asking for some help there, so it should be good to go sometime tomarrow.

it was actually pretty cool to go through the rest of the thread and see all the pictures and ideas being tossed back and forth. and my hats off to Neurotex, he almost had a new plane on every page and they all looked great. nice work everyone

Thanks micro, the ribs were all cut from a cardboard template so
that helped cut the tedium- plus they're all the same size. It was
sanding each individual rib down to make them all the same that
was so time consuming.
The tail is foam plate. I really wanted to keep it all balsa but after
painting the tail antique white and applying a tan wash over it I
decided to keep it. It doesn't look at all like foam after paint.
It has a 12" wingspan with a 3.5" chord so it should almost float,
making it pretty much an indoor flyer. I'm hoping to keep it under
16 grams.
At the mall down the street the store in the north section went out of
business so there's this huge portion of the mall which remains almost
empty. It has a very high ceiling... I'm thinking of flying it around in
there- if I don't get caught.

42sq in of wing area and possible 16g AUW, thats only .38g/sq in, she should be a nice slow flyer indeed. doing the low speed throttle mod would let it be even slower too. the tail looks pretty darn good, i almost thought it was printed tissue. i've started using a very crude but effective way of coloring planes, using compressed air and markers. its quick and dirty, but it'll probably get me to put more color on my planes. go fly at the mall! whats the worst they could do, besides smashing the plane? that would probably make me cry.

the mod sticky isnt too bad to do, just lots of fast reading and lots of copy and pasting. my ctrl+C and ctrl+V fingers are quite proficient these days i was hoping to have a PM from one of the moderators today so i can put the new list of links up, but nothing yet, should be soon though.

That is a bit of wing, ain't it? But that's what I want to try out.
To paint the ribs on the tail I slotted a piece of cardboard and then
dry brushed some brown between the slot. I also hinged it so I can
make trimming adjustments on the spot. (or at the mall)
Don't say smash...[:@]

are you going to post how you color with air & markers?
