RE: What a rip off!!!
Dude, do you have any idea of what you are looking at? RTF models aren't priced by the pound, you know. The RX in the Butter fly isn't as big as a postage stamp, is ready to fly and has been flight tested before it, the transmitter (with charger), battery, model, flight SIM and computer interface cable are packed in the carrying case. This is a complete system, and the whole AUW of the model is less than one forth of what your AeroAce weighs. The RX weighs 1/3 of a gram - or less than a JST connector with out the wires. Unlike the AA-type toys, this is a modeler's model instead of a throw-away kids' toy from K-Mart where you have to go back and exchange half a dozen of them to get one that works...
Just for an idea of how big the gear is, here is a shot of one of the first RXs they had, the 0.9 gram model shown with a 90 mah battery - the butterfly uses a 30 mah...

Deforcer, there may only be $12 worth of cf and depron. but the sub micro electronics are expensive. And it includes batteries, chargers, all the electronics, and a case to protect the microplane. And the microplane is 3 channel. I have had disagreements with plantraco, but you seem to be misinformed on this one. Tim

If I was a rich man I'd have no problem with the price tag of the butterfly.
Everything is relative. Quite an amazing piece of electronics I think and
putting each plane together and testing it by hand takes time.
The only reason the toy store jobbies are so cheap is because they're
mass produced at very low quality and put together by very cheap labor.
We have seriously gotten spoiled by the low end of the hobby which is
good for many reasons but comparing the two in quality isn't one of them.

I too have my disagreements with the company but not so much with their products. If you can find someone else making these products... go for it... but at the moment I'm fairly certain there are only 2 or may perhaps 3 people out there making reliable LIVING ROOM flyers. Try to fly an aero ace in a living room. You may not break the plane but the lamps probably wouldn't fair too well.

I'd rather pay for QUALITY and the knowledge that something flies properly right out of the gate than needed to "Figure out the quirks" of a 12.00 POS. Small and simple does not = cheap.
plus thats one fine case

Their TX seems to be rather lacking in the ergonomics dept. It does look very cool though, looked like a controlled flight in the video.
