Default Vapor plastic covering repair???

Hello all,
I just bought a PZ Vapor and put the first flight on it. Fun little plane. Problem is the plastic covering has already come unglued from the wingtip of one side. Probably a good 2 inch length. I was going to just gently glue it back with a little CA but don't know if anyone else out there knows a better method or glue for re-attatching the Plastic skin back to the carbon wingtip frame?? Thanks for any suggestions Jon

I purchased a Vapor yesterday. During the initial test flights in a 'not-to-big' area, it banged into a few things. As a result, the covering came loose on the vertical fin and the stabilizer. I realized if I used CA or any contact type cement, the weight goes up as there is no evaporation. I remembered an indoor FF building technique shared by one of our club members (a NATS indoor FF champion)......use diluted Ambroid. Actually, any nitrocellulose type cement (Ambroid, Sigment, possibly some Testors product) work well. I diluted a small amount of Ambroid about 50% with acetone, then brushed the mixture on the carbon frame with a small artists brush. Gently pull the covering on to the frame and it quickly bonds and pulls to the frame as the glue dries.

I guess I'm a bit new school, I just use a small bit of scotch gift tape.

That is exactly what I used to repair mine. So it is confirmed to be a great method

I recovered my whole plane with 'press n seal', seems to work just fine, doesn't seem to be too heavy.

I shall have to investigate this product. As I am congenitally unable to make saran wrap type products function, I ignore them[X(]

thats awsome rkels, i have atleast 2 rolls of it here, i considered it too because it does stick to itself pretty well, but i thought weight would have been an issue, looks like this might be a miracle wrapping in disguise,

Yeh, I find it very difficult to glue stuff like that without glueing my fingers together

"Who'd of thunk"? ha, that sounds something like I would say to my son

ive been using foamboard alot, its pretty easy to shape with your fingers. when i finish building my micro sized mustang out of foam board ill have pics of it on here so you can see it. its pretty good stuff to work with. its light, strong, cheap and can be made into anything lol. speaking of which i will have to get some pics up of the air hogs powered foam boad speed board i made.

I was, as usual, not crystal clear. I can't make saran wrap work. I can and do work with thin plastic sheets daily. If I was to attempt a new covering I would try a glue stick and one of the poly bags from my Chinese supplier.

I would trim the plastic bag as close to the wing as possible. I was offering an idea. I do not know if this procedure would work. Attempt means just that.

For a quick fix use the scotch tape method. For a true fix I use white glue or RC56 thinned with water. Pull the covering back and use a small brush to paint the carbon fiber. Then lay the covering back on the carbon. Pulling out any wrinkles when you do. Once you get it back down set it aside for the night to dry. Have been doing this for the last couple years and works great. Just don't thin the glue to much. Just trying to add enough water to get it to flow out a bit.

Any word from Diabolic? I remember he enlisted a while back, but I figure the pull of these little birds is powerfull and he'll come back to say "What up? I've been flying REAL planes!" or something. God bless him!

No one is using the thin plastic common to Dry Cleaners? The stuff seems more than strong enough, but not sure about durability. I know there are a host of "utility" glues that bond to it, but Ihaven't tried to thin the glue yet to slow down the curing time and reduce how much is needed for a good bond. Anyone else still messing around with Vapor clones? I am thinking around 20% larger since the motor and gear seem to be more than strong enough. Of course that means I will want more battery capacity the next day.
