RE: has anyone done this ?????
Yep; that's silkspan alright. It does shrink up nice and tight without distorting the framework. I remember using the Elmers' technique because my mom had an absolute, um, COW over the smell of Aerogloss dope, but rapidly discovered it wasn't fuel-proof, and the resulting, er, re-kit made me scream at her. After the tune-up on my poor little skull, The barn became my new finishing room unless it was really cold out, and she had a little tolerance if I opened my bedroom windows a little. Straight water to shrink the tissue, and then one or two coats of Nitrocellulose lacquer, thinned 50%, turns out a lightweight, fuel-proof finish that stays tight because it's not susceptible to high-humidity conditions, and isn't too bad looking either, plus if you use watercolors for coloring when you wet the stuff to shrink it, the lacquer makes it permanent. Now we're getting into some old-school tricks. Jay, that's gooing to be a good-looking airplane, and that Super Cub is gorgeous. Good to see that the finer arts are not dead. (Just rare, I agree.) Maybe we can keep it alive after all, I had thought this was a long-gone hobby with all the foamies around. Wolfy888

Thanks!!! Iv'e always flown with just elevator, ailerons and throttle. The rudder is helpful on a taildragger on take-off. Every time I tried to use the rudder while flying just confused the !@# out of me. However,,, I have been using the rudder on the MSFlight Sim.

Magnum, a few suggestions,
I've done a few conversions myself, and find them to fly decent if built light. you picked a good airframe, high wing, light, and admirable wing area. My conversions include the p-51 and spitfire guillows kits of the same scale. For you though, get rid of the satellite antenna. you will not be flying far enough away to need it, and it is dead weight. also, you can cut the reciever weight in half by removing the plastic case, and using heat shrink tube to cover the reciever. just those two mods will save quite a bit of weight. Your build looks great though! I look forward to seeing some in flight pics!
