Have made a start on formers and building jig, I am considering using Dualsky xm6355da motor, Are you fitting the motor directly to F1 or does it need additional support as in using a cross mount at the front. ??

I`m getting closer to the decision of glassing or film covering, never glassed before, so newbie question - is 18g cloth too fine is 45g better, will probably be using poly C once sealed, although thats still not decided....

Almost there, just built it up for CG check to find out where batteries will go - here are a few photos, mainly any differences to whats been done before
power will be from Turnigy G160 and YEP 120A ESC
canopy has 2 dowels at front, front is CF covered ply and studs on each side at rear
stab and wings are built up
Elevator servo and rudder servo are both under canopy
Have not fitted adjustable incidence fittings due to availability and not proficient enough to notice a difference
Fuz, stab , wings ( all of it ) are all glass clothed with 25g cloth and polyester resin then spray painted
when checking CG looks like batteries (2x 5 cell 5000mah) will need to go forward of undercarriage, there will be a separate power supply fitted for RX
I dont do competitions thats mainly why i glassed all of it as i have no weight limit to stick to and would rather have it more ding resistant, hope it flies as good as it looks , wont be long now....

Hello Jeff,
I would really appreciate a copy of your Lightning F3A plans. I have been searching for a balsa/ply design and found this thread and your design looks fantastic.
Thank you for your generosity in sharing this design. Email: [email protected]

Jeff....I built "Plett F2" for an outrunner and had to come up with a way to remove the motor from the rear (inside). My "Plett F2" is 1/8 aircraft ply on the inside and 1/8 lite ply in front (with blind nuts).
I'm new to electrics and have never seen a motor mounted like this before; question is....Will this work?
If anyone has tried this with or without success please chime in.
Also; Thanks for the plans Jeff. Larry

Thanks for the quick reply Jeff and Dave; I'm going to laminate "Plett F2" with C/F cloth if it ever gets here. (slow boat from China)
Really like your mount Dave....looks super strong....Oh by the way....it was your thread on building a pattern wing and stab that got this project going.....good stuff.
Thanks Larry
