The Honeycomb is from ACP Composites and measures 11" In span, 4" at root and 2" at the tips. It is also set to the same incidence as the main wing.

HI Mike,

I was very interested in your glue gun idea and bought one and I am impressed. I believe you also hot glued you esc also is that correct? Did the temp of the Glue cause any component problems? Appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanking you in advance

HI,

Thank for talking about shoe glue I have since purchased some and it is great for tying down leads.

Question have you used it to hold your esc or would the temp of the esc cause it to let loose?

Thanking you in advance.

3rdworld, I did have a Pletti Advance available when Iacquired a used Vanquish. The previous owner had used an AXi 5325/24 (or something like that!) and Itried very hard to come up with a mounting scheme for the Pletti. However, it looked likea fair bit of surgery would be required and then, if I wanted to sell the Vanquish, I'd have to sell the Pletti with it. So, Igot an AXi 5330/F3a and that just bolted into place with no hassle and it has bags of power - rarely do Ineed full throttle. Around 3/4 is all that's needed for good vertical performance with the same speed as the model flys horizontally. On very windy days Ioccasionally use full poke but it is for very limited times.

Wattsup, you certainly have a point about fitting a Pletti to a Vanquish but, as Isaid, Ihad one available. It is now sitting on the shelf waiting for the next opportunity to upgrade at the end of this season - maybe! If the Vanquish is as good as it is proving Imay wait for a couple of seasons! Regarding excessive current draw, Idoubt it with the Pletti as you only need the power when you need the power! My view with the Vanquish fitted with the AXi 5330 is that the Pletti would require less throttle, and hence similar or lower current draw than the AXi. Ican fly a 6.5 min schedule and then fly a couple more manoeuvres and the 4900 Rhinos I'm using are usually at around 65-70% used and barely warm - OK it was only 5 deg C when Iflew it.
. For those using the AXI 5330 what mounting method allows the drop in fit? My x mount holes on the F3A are not eve close to the pre-drilled firewall holes.

It came out to 11" because thats all the material I had left! lol But it turns out that it is about half the size of the cantalizers on the Axiome and Episode.

The cantalizer doesn't necessarily "fix" anything but it does improve rudder authority and helps the airplane track better in pitch and yaw...

I had the same thing show up on my Vanquish! My version is the blue and pink. The part fell out of the left side stab. I sent Chris
a e-mail with a picture and he replyed that the peice is used to provide a stop for the stab tube to keep the tube from going to far
into the stab. He thought that everything should be fine without the part. It is a bit hard to see how the part came loose with the keying
slots in place.

I also have a red and yellow version and have not found any loose parts within the stab.

Happy landings!

Thought I would chime in here. I have recently started flying a Vanquish and getting into the F3A Pattern side of competition and am really enjoying it. I replaced the magenta with Cub Yellow and with 5000mah packs it weighs 4930g. I also added an 11'' span T-Cantalizer which has been working very well and really makes the airplane lock in and roll better.

Chris M.

I think this color combo is worthy of a production run.

Nice colors

Very nice looking colors, but I would invert the blue and the yellow to make the leading edge primarily yellow, blue wings disappear on me during approach if there's a tree line behind the plane, as there often is.

Is a Landing gear mod a necessity on this plane?

I hear the gear is the weak point.

J,

There is a father and son I fly with at the [link=http://www.spacecityrc.com]Space City RC Club[/link] who have logged many hours with a couple of 2M Vanquishes for the last year or so. I'm sure they would be glad to share their experiences with you. We fly in the evenings weekdays after work and Saturdays. Stop by sometime if you are interested in pattern flying.

Also Space City RC Club's 6th annual pattern contest will be held May 4th and 5th.

I have never seen any issues with the Vanquish gear. I think it is like the rest of the pattern planes out there. If you constantly keep hitting hard, it will knock the gear loose, but as long as you land reasonably smooth, you wont have any issues. I've seen way too many pilots not put the focus on landings. Landings and takeoffs are free points.

I have been flying a 3DHS Osiris for years, and have always wanted a 2M Ship. I don't compete, but I like going through the sequences every now and then.

Maybe one day I would like to enter a competition. But for now, it's 4-point rolls, knife edge circles, vertical snap rolls...... The fun stuff

I read somewhere in this thread, "it taking 250 flights to get a pattern plane flying the way you want it." Uhhh, .........No way.

J, after some 350 flights on one vanquish I can tell you that the landing gear is not a weak point. Then only time I have to fix it was after a competion when some gusty winds ,due to a storm system forming on the south, slammed the plane on landing causing a CF prop to brake and the motor shaft to bend.

I'm a touch under 300 flights and the gear even survived a mid-air with no problem.
Actually, only my spinner was damaged and the landing was normal.

Thanks Guys! This was a stock Blue, White & Magenta color scheme that I simply stripped off the Magenta and replaced it with Cub Yellow! Im only on flight # 14 now but it is flying very well so far. I just switched to Zippy Compact 4500 35c packs and saved 245 grams from the 5000's!
