But the Sky 4400 40Cs are $39.

A lot of these packs have only been out for a few months or a year - how do we know they will last, or even arrive in working order?
I now have a suitcase full of battery packs in the basement and am still shopping for batteries? It's starting not to make sense to buy the cheapies.

I have non-nano Turnigy 5000mah 20c packs. A little bit on the heavy side but perform OK on their 2nd season. IR is in the range of 2-4 millOhms.
As a comparison, that of the f3aunlimited 20C packs is around 1-2 millOhms, and that of the Blue from hobbypartz.com is approaching 5-7 millOhms (2nd season).

The weather forecast was not accurate today. Predicted high of 55degF and some sun, never got above 48degF and overcast with a raw, damp feel to the air, and then it started raining. Ugh.[&o]
Got in some flights anyway and made it a point to get a good graph of a Zippy, this one with well over 100 cycles, which is one of the very first sets of batteries I bought early last year when I started flying electric. I don't know exactly how many cycles because I stopped counting at 80 or so, figuring I'd gotten my money's worth.
During the flight max amps was 76.6, lowest volts under load 32.2 and highest RPM was 7089. I was really minding the throttle and max watts was 2522. Flying in a funky, lumpy crosswind of about 10-15 mph. It felt good on throttle, still plenty of power for AMA Advanced sequence.

Just a quick update about a problem I currently have with one of the Sky Lipo 5s 4400mah 40c packs. I ordered 2 sets/4 batteries total approx 6 weeks ago. After 5 careful "break-in" flights at approx 1/2 throttle for 5 minutes, one of the packs suffered an internal short after a total of 13 flights and is no longer useable. I have emailed HobbyPartz and am waiting to find out if the pack will be covered under warranty. I have used alot of their batteries over the last 3 years, so I guess we shall see. I will keep everyone updated__Everette

In order to get customer service with hobbypartz, you must go to their website and sit in cue for online service, usually not too long of a wait.
Explain what happened. I have had great experience with their support. I had two 6S packs not function properly, they replaced at no additional cost and no questions asked.
Good Luck and hope you have good luck with your sets. I was using the 20C sets.

Good News! HobbyPartz has stepped up and will honor a replacement pack even though the 30 day warranty was out by approx 12 days. I felt certain they would do the right thing so, I tried to be patient because they have a thriving business and I'm not their only customer. Initially I sent an email and then followed up with a phone call and their customer rep named Isaac promptly took care of my problem. Thanks again Isaac, Everette

RE: what is a cheap f3a 5S 5000mah battery
I have no doubt that these are fine batteries, however even with a discount the 5000mAh 25C's are still $144.50 each, or $289.00 for a pair for a 2-meter model.
I realize there are a lot more factors to consider (recharge cycles, guarantee, customer service, etc) when looking at the cost, but coming out of the gate they have a hard time competing with "fairly decent" batteries at $80 per set for us cheapskates.
Among my battery sets are several of the cheapies that have well over 100 cycles and are still going strong, as in strong enough to fly the Advanced sequence that I fly, and maybe Masters, although almost certainly not enough for F3A P or F.
