I got mine Epic earlier this year (kit version + painted fuse).
Can somebody post some measurement to help precisely locate the center of the wing tube socket on the sides of the fuse? On each side of the fuse near the main wing area, there are two dented marks , which can be useful?
So far, I was not able to get the info from CA models.
thanks in advance!

Also need to mention that UPS, which functions as the carrier, made some extensive damages to Epic's fuse during shipping. It really sucks.
A claim was filed back in Jan. 2014 and UPS is not willing to share the resolution with recipients (like me).
CA Model is aware of the situate. Hopefully we can work out something.

Just wanted to update my set-up on the Epic.
This is set-up without the T. Once the plane is trimmed, add the T and shim if necessary.
I just added some (relative) upthrust. I have a 1mm gap at the top of the spinner and a 2mm gap at the bottom. Right thrust is the same as the nose.
The wing is +.5 and stab is 0.
With battery in place and plane assembled, but no canopy, I can put 3 fingers under the center of the wing tube in fuse and when lifted, the nose is slightly down.
I have cut the downline mix to 1mm and removed most of the rud/elv KE mix, I think 1-2% remains.
Rates are still the same as the photo but I added a little more elevator expo with the rearward CG.
All measurements in the photo are in millimeters.
I have my 14MZ program and will email it to anyone that wants it. [email protected]

Thanks. Very useful info.
I made some progress in the past weeks. All major wood structures inside the fuse have been installed.
Attached are the scanned images (nose and tail side) of the firewall, used with Neu motor and hyde soft mount.

Here's a few pic of the Epic during Nats practice. I will be using it in P and my Mystery in F.
Marcelo just told me that all CA planes (sold in the US) are 20% off during Nats '14 week. So Monday the 21st-Thursday the 24th (if we use the rain day the sale will be extended to Friday). Email him at: [email protected] and put Nats 20% off plane as Subject.

I followed JAS method (the newest setup), just place three fingers under the tube with the batteries in it and the nose should be "slightly" down. This CG placement is for the latest set JAS posted, wings at .5+/stabs 0/ motor 2mm of up and fly and trim without the T-can first. Then add the "T" and shim it till the elevator requires no trim with/out the T-installed ( mine has some negative in it).
The mix is very minimal with this setup...
Best of Luck and great looking Epic!
Bill

I'm trying to get ahead of the game and want to order control rods for setup. Epic is on its way. I would really appreciate it if someone could send me the length of push rods for ailerons and elevators. Please let me know if measurement is push rod only or includes ends also. By the way does the Epic come with linkage ends for controls?
Thanks,

Hey Larry,
My ailerons are 2.75 thread to thread, but I faced my servo spline down toward the trailing edge (shorter linkage, less weight). The elevator..., well......., that you will have to figure at as you go along. The elevators do not come with servo box cut outs at all (I used Futaba mini digital's). You have to do that yourself. You can also install them in the stabs surface mounted, as I did, you can mount them like JAS did, he didn't recommend that when I spoke to him (no room to pocket mount them). You can mount them on the side of the fuse, under the stabs, as I was also told by a prominent FAI pilot that is using a YS in his.
I posted pic's of mine and things I did to workout some issues.

The proper length of the rod is measured with the adjusters installed on the servo arm and the control horn, the servo at neutral and the control surface at 0 degree reflection. Glue one adjuster at a time.

The same thing I did.
I cut 2mm solid carbon fiber rod into proper length as the push rod for all control surfaces. The two ends are 2.5mm ball bearing adjusters (http://www.f3aunlimited.com/f3a-unli...r-2-5mm-fh5011) glued into the carbon fiber rod with JB weld. Super light, rigid and reliable.
The proper length of the rod is measured with the adjusters installed on the servo arm and the control horn, the servo at neutral and the control surface at 0 degree reflection. Glue one adjuster at a time.

Ordered the latest version of the Epic, the EVO today from Mike at F3A Unlimited..
Pletty Advance 30-10
Spin 99 Pro Opto
MKS HV69 Elevator & Ailerons
MKS HBL575SL Rudder
Batteries will probably be a few sets of Gator Power 5200s
Rx Batt will be some form of a 2s LiPo..
I'll definitely post pics when it arrives and I build it.. Looking forward to flying pattern again.
