This is my answer to anyone who doubts what we are attempting to accomplish with this plane.
Making weight will not be hard. The Intermediate and Advanced fliers will make legal weight which is over 5150 grams without a hitch. I can work with anyone buying one to get a decent weight formula. Composite planes are always going to be a challenge to make a decent weight. There are some that are light but the combination of strong and light is tough to solve.
I remember our Comp ARF Integrals which was all composite having to use built up wings to be light. That plane cost over $1500 (8 years ago) and was heavy. There are all composite planes on the market today that cost 2.5 times the price of a Caelus that have weight issues.
There are areas that can be lighter and will be in the future but still the plane is not a bad option and the price point beats anything on the market by a mile. As we progress and hopefully the response to the plane will allow us to do this we will get better and the weights will come down.
I assure you that this plane is a great value. No hidden agenda. Just what I'm claiming and I am being honest. It's an honor to market these. As are BJ Craft which is our signature brand and one that all of the manufactures are following for quality, value and weight.
TopRCModel wants to develop and evolve into F3A and has made a significant investment into it. If they do not do well with this it'll go away as the demand does not support the tooling costs.
If we succeed we get more planes, new designs and a low cost high quality alternative for many years.
The support will dictate what happens. I'd love to see the sport grow. We think a low cost viable alternative like this will help.
So I ask the buyers to cut us a little slack on these planes. There very new and we are on a good path.What you will receive upon purchasing one is a great plane and a great value. When you receive it I promise it will impress you. When your friends see it they too will be impressed.
Is it perfect. No it is not perfect. What is?
I think a $999 beauty is something the buyers will appreciate.
As far as adjusters there are wing and stab installed. That doesn't come on many planes.

On the motor weights Bem I think you have the weight on the Q80 wrong.I think it's closer to 20 ounces maybe 560 grams with the prop nut attached. Are you getting the weight without the prop nut because my data says the Pletty Advance and the Q80 have very similar weights.

The 30-10 is a great motor, you will be very happy with how smooth it is. In the last 3 years we have purchased at least 5-6 of the 30 - 10's from Mike at f3a for different models and they all perform flawlessly.

This plane is built so well. With 4500 packs at 1070 grams it comes in under weight right at 4995. 4500 packs are suitable all the way thru masters. This plane beats my Monolog hands down no contest. And I paid more for the monolog. Anyone want to buy my Monolog so I can get one of these. Sorry Mike- The Caelus is waaayyy better than the Monolg. Do you take trades LMAO

It is probably as You say that Q80 is close to 560 gram with prop nut and washer. Q80-14XS is listed as 528 gram at Hacker homepage and that was what I used:

I have Q80-14XS myself but it is mounted in my plane (MythoS Pro) so I can not verify total weight of Q80 with prop nut.

The first shipment is in the states. It arrived at Long Beach California this weekend.
So shipping will take place in about a week.

After the longest trip we have ever had via sea shipment we finally took possession of the Caelus yesterday and filled most of the back-orders.
The plane is now shipping. It is a very large box and requires and oversize fee via FedEx.
It still has the free promo pair of our 5s 35c 4500 Power Unlimited lipo's included at no extra charge for shipping.

Also wanted to add that there are significant differences between the Caelus and an Episode. The size of the fin and area in the tail is a lot larger in the Caelus.

Hi,I have noticed that the spec sheet for the model says it comes with a carbon mount,but have not seen any reference to it in any build logs.Can anyone tell me if it does come with the mount?Also are there any more flight reports?

Also I flew the Caelus in my 1st competition of the year this weekend in Peoria Illinois. I took second in Masters and I'm starting to work on the fine points with the plane.
I have to admit it flys really well. The rolls are on a string and the snaps as good as I've ever had a plane perform.
Spin entry is very clean too. I'm very proud to have these planes for sale as I feel confident that the customers will appreciate what they are and how they fly.
I have to hand it to the engineers at TopRCModel. They did a very good job.
Here's a picture of unloading the container that arrived on Friday. The initial orders have all been shipped now and I look forward to the feedback from the new owners soon.
The hardware package included with the plane is the most complete I have ever seen. All the linkages are high quality and it had turnbuckles included for every control.

I installed stab fences on mine last week as an experiment. I think they helped but not 100% sure. I usually put them on any plane. I think it's a placebo effect.
I'm having a blast flying it.
I have an Episode ready to fly soon too. It'll be fun to compare the 2 as I have never flown an Episode.
I always thought a DTFS wing would be unstable but I have to admit I don't feel any of that.

The wife just called to let me know that Fed Ex just dropped mine at the house. So 4 more hours before I can peek at it. This will be my first pattern ship from scratch ( I have 2 Black Magics V3's purchased from another flyer) so i am looking forward to setting the plane up.
New to this pattern thing. Wanted something to help me improve the smoothness of my flying, especially with my turbines. After practicing the Intermediate Pattern about 2/3 the way through a dozen times I have discovered just how hard it is to fly a straight line. So I think i have come to the right place. lots of questions to come.
