Default Galactik 90 By CPLR and Winners Model

Just got a Galactik 90 from F3A Unlimited. Arrived safe and sound no damage. Construction is excellent. Just went over it with some med. CA just to make sure it might last a little longer. Going with Scorpion 4025-12 440kv, OS 100 amp ESC, Lectron Pro 50c 5200mah packs(23oz.) and a Falcon 17 x 10 carbon prop. Jr 3711HV's and JR 8411HV servos will get the steering duties. 2s 730mah packs for RX. I'll post some more build pics and video as they become available. Should make a great practice plane for me. I'm sure it will fly as good as it looks!

Did it come with the silver colored canopy? Is it painted? I like the looks of the silver much much better than the blue color they have advertise the plane with....

Comes with a silver painted canopy which might accidentally get painted bronze/black faded trim-oopsy!

Did the servo cutouts in the fuselage and wing need any modification to accept the servo's or was they a direct fit? Also does the motor box come pre-drilled to fit the X mount of Scorpion 4025?

JR 3711HV's will need some shimming to fit. A bit smaller than the recommended servos by a mil. or so either side of servo(s). The motor mount comes marked for drilling. Holes lined right up. Just hit it in the drill press and bolts right up.

How is the overall quality of plane and covering compared to Sebart?

Default Added Robart pin hinges

Added Robart pin hinges. Can't stomach CA hinges on such a nice model! I even put them on my foamies!

Had that motor laying around. It's an older V1 version. Had a few of them and they run fine.

Thanks I ordered one from Singapore hobby. Much cheaper than the hacker they recommend. Have you flown the plane yet, it should be good

Hackers are nice but for this application I have to go with the Scorpion. They have proven to be a reliable powerplant for me over the years. I havent' gotten her up in the air yet. Soon as I'm finished I'll post some more pics. Weather is crappy for the next few days anyway. Not like there aren't 15 other projects waiting in line or anything...lol

By the way for what it's worth. The planes all have silver canopy's surprise!!!!! I had no idea.
I'll look for new pictures to post on the plane on my website.
The plane is beautiful. Better in person just like it's big brother the Oxai 2 meter which is the most popular Oxai plane in years.
People ask me who's going to buy a pattern plane for $5500? The answer is a lot more than you'd think.

Take care and thanks for starting the thread.

I can't leave well enough alone. I would have faded in black around the silver anyway. Plus I can imagine the rest of the pattern guys at RCACF will be getting one soon enough so I don't want to have an identical plane sitting there next to theirs! LOL Must say the plane is well built. I should have it finished in the next day or two and airborne soon thereafter. I know Blake can't wait to try it out. I've already started on the foamy version! Thanks for carrying the plane!!!

Regards,
Jason

As soon as I quit monkeying around shop #1 building planes/helis/multirotors and get over to shop #2 and finish the rest of the building for my 3D printers....LOL. I'm trying to get some prototypes finalized before finishing CAD work on them but SEFF should be their debut. I would also like to be able to offer 3D printed LG for the larger foamies. Just have to work on some LG prototypes. Cuz' I'm certainly not making custom carbon gear for mass production! Please be a little more patient and they'll be here.

P.S. I just quit my job so I could devote 24/7 to this business!

If I had a spare, be glad to sell it to you. Unfortunately they're all bolted into planes now. The one on my Galactik is an older V1, just haven't used it till now. Would rather have a V2 but as you said none around. Someone said they bought one oversees.?

Thanks for the reply, I guess I keep looking, but if you do hear of one or where I can buy one, please let me know

Good luck finding one. They are worth it. If I didn't have this one I still would have waited for one. I know I would probably be a little disappointed with whatever else I had to pick from...I'm pretty sure this is the perfect powerplant for this plane.

Sorry guys, been a little under the weather lately. Here's the flight update. Weight came in @ 8.9lbs as about advertised. Power is good for the first part of Advanced 2015 routine and then the last few manuevers it starts to lag and by landing LVC is not far away on a 50c 5200mah pack. Not bad for just some pattern practice but if you were to compete(like Blake will be doing with the Galactic @ the next Tangerine event) you'd be pushing the envelope a bit. So... in comes the Tech-Aero Throttle tech system. This should even out the power output thru the whole flight. This hopefully will allow an 8 min. competition flight. If that doesn't yield the desired result the we'll play around with a 7s setup and 16 x 10 Falcon. Otherwise the plane after a few adjustments like braking, flies great. I haven't had the pleasure yet but Blake has been breaking it in. As soon as I'm mobile again I'll go out and do some calling and video. Here's a few quick phone vids just for a teaser.... Sorry for the quality but that's all there is at the moment.

Looks good! I can't wait to get mine finished and flying, though the weather here in central Virginia has been unusually cold and snowy this winter. I will be using a YS 110 in mine. I have been impressed with the quality of the construction and the included hardware. I do think the Galactik was designed primarily for Epower - not much in the instruction manual about the glow option.
Looking forward to seeing more flight video.
Thanks for sharing!

Flywilly, I bought one also, to use YS, but I don't see an extra firewall. got a package of wood with a hatch cover for the hole in the bottom and some other balsa parts, dont know what those are. probably will switch to electric. very nice plane though. bob
