I think the screws got trashed as i didn't see them, what size are they and how long? I guess 2mm but length?

Hi David,
As you mentioned, one side glues in and one side has a screw. There is only 1 hardpoint. I ended up using a long servo mounting screw, one of the socket head types from Micro Fasteners.com. The supplied screw is fine, but I went to the socket head servo screw since it was a bit larger diameter and longer. I did the same on my BiSide.

Cheers Dave
I made sure that the stab halves were not rubbing prior to applying the felt seal. The felt barely touches the fuse sides, but it does have some light contact. The important thing is that the stab moves freely and has no snags or catches in its movement. You don't want any side to side play, and if you built it with the supplied parts there should not be any play in it to speak of.

I used the battery tray included with the kit and located it as shown on BJ's page. Do need a small mix for for down lines. (Throttle to Elevator) Very nice plane! It is very solid in the air! No hunting what so ever. Currently flying with a 21.5X13 Falcon Prop. Heading out tomorrow to dial in CG, Snap condition, and spin condition. Pt rolls and slow rolls are easy with this plane. The flying stab is very smooth. Seems to help in maneuvers needing down elevator. Inverted flight is very easy to maintain.

So far so good!
Larry
Good to hear Larry,

Remember to set your horizontal flight trim for about 70% throttle and then adjust your throttle to elevator mix accordingly.

Larry the response to this plane is like a broken record. Have not found anyone who says it has any issues.
I have to tip my hat to BJ and say job well done.
Thanks for this report and please continue to let us know how things are progressing.

This plane is very easy to fly especially the constant speed control...almost no knif edge mix .
With this plane I win first place in Taiwan F-3A championship.
I am very happy with it's performance

Shannah......
Hi Steve....could you please post the length of the servo arms you used on the Essence?
I'm starting a build right now and am getting ready to order parts.
Thanks...

Hi Dave,

I am using stock Futaba arms. On the Elevator and rudder I use the larger "X" style arm and the clevis is mounted on the outer hole. I think it is about 17mm from center.

On the Aileron I use the large wheel disk horn. The clevis is 20mm from center.

Thanks a lot Steve....that should do the trick.

By the way....is BJ going to make available the proto motor mount you used on the Essence??

the 2 smal washers that are ment to be glued on the pivot point on the stab is that only for the stab to have a surface to glide on or is it meant to be a reinforcement to the stab mounting?

Guys I have brand new stock ready to ship that came in this week. On both the Invitation and the Essence. Both in the standard scheme.

http://www.f3aunlimited.com/essence-std

http://www.f3aunlimited.com/bj-craft-g2-invitation-183

Still have time to bring product to the Nationals. It's a safe way to get a plane and save on the shipping costs.
Thanks, Mike Mueller

Hi Rune,

The small washers don't need to be glued on the pivot point. I let them rotate freely. They are just a smooth bearing surface for the stab to glide on.

Hello gent's
had Maiden on my Essence yesterday ...dont botter to put in any pics as its similar to the others.
My first impression is pretty good, used the jigs for setting stab's and wings the thrust lines is after the fuse front.
Just have 6 flights so fare and the throws are still not at my taste completely , but so fare the plane fits my fingers better than my Arixtra .
I have use futaba SV digitals all around OS belt motor and Jeti Mezon and the Efuel gauge from denmark to have track off the amp on the batteries.
Only thing I didnt like is that the undercarriage is to low at least on my clubfield ( it was a bit high grass) but it was Heavy to get off so I will change this to a other that I have.
I change some off the controll linkage as I dont like z-bends linkage .
Some off the supplied plywood is not good its to soft , the undercarriage plate and support is to soft so I had to re thighten the bolts after some days...it came loose...I soak it With thin CA and will see how its goes, the canopy is fasten by a piano wire ..I may change that to MK Magic boxes after some time.
Weight With 5000mah batteries is nicely 4740gr .
Finish on the planes is wery good not as an Oxai but good enogh for me.

Hi Rune,
Is the OSBelt a bood match for this plane?
Do you have any prop dimensions and rpm numbers with this motor?

I like the power "curv" (correct Word?) on the OS ..no rpm numbers haven bother to messure but it is about 80 amps on a 21x14 Falcon .
Its to early to conclude that this is the motor for this plane ..only 6 flights on it (the plane) but had the os in my arixtra for ca 50 flights and it was a better match than the 14XS Hacker ...at least in my oppinion

Ha Rune,
Thanks. Good the hear that hear that you like the OSbelt. Thinking about the Essence, until now a C5014XL fan but perhaps the OSbelt will change that.

One thing to think about is that on this plane With the OS (that is a bit Heavy compare to others) I have the battery about 7-8 cm from the motor thats made me put the ESC under the battery plate to get CG at the right(recommended) spot, so if you og for a lighter motor you may have to move the rudder servo forward to the canopy opening.
I now have the battery centred (ca) over the UC bulkhead

I just wanted to let everyone know how enthusiastic I am about Snowman44 motor mounts for the BJ Craft series of airplanes.
These mounts are water jet cut from Mil-Spec G10 FR4 .093" material to perfectly fit the Plettenberg Advance motors.
The sizes are 3.7" which fits the Essence and Invitation (G2 series of BJ planes) and smaller right sizes for the BiSide, Nuance and Prolog fuselage shapes.
I'm sure they would fit other airplanes as well.
I have built 3 BJ Craft planes and used the Snowman44 mounts on all of them with great success.
I sent Snowman44 a PM and it arrived quickly for $39.95.
They make a really nice installation using standard epoxy or Hysol 9462 available at McMaster-Carr.

Does that mount glue directly to the back of the nose ring?
Do the bolts from the motor install from the front then and are countersunk?
