Default 2 piece fuselage F3A plane?

Stumbled across this plane and noticed that it has been designed with a 2 piece fuselage in order to save on shipping charges. I've seen 2 piece fuselages on other planes, but never on a pattern plane before.
It also has what appears to be aluminum rods used to hold the battery packs (rather than a CF/plywood tray)?

There was a plane back in the 80's designed with a 2 piece fuselage. I want to say it was Henry Piorun's. But not sure.

Yup, the Python. It was a custom modification to the stock, 1 piece fuselage. Added $200 to the price of the kit. Rick Allison had one and wrote about it in his Model Builder column.

Thank you very much for the replies.
I did find this plane on his Facebook page ... I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before
And it appears to have some type of Contra drive?

It is similar to the Nat Penton Xpress. That model design is about 30 years old.

It also has a rather unique flight envelope which this current subject no doubt tries to emulate

Peter Haase's model is a remarkable design. Apart from using the SFG concept, i don't think it has anything in common with the Voodoo Xpress.
The wing SFG surfaces are controlled by servos and i think they are used also as airbrakes on the downlines. The wings are built up but there's no spar inside except the wingtube. The contra unit is Peter's own creation and works with the Plettenberg Advance and other low KV electric motors.
There's a lot of innovation in this plane and the list can go on.
I think it takes a lot of courage and skill to build such an unusual and innovative model.

Nat's Xpress was the original using these concepts. The fact that this model's surfaces are movable doesn't mean they are innovative. The original innovation belongs to Nat

On this we agree: building skills
