We had a weigh up yesterday afternoon before gluing in the battery tray.
4.585kg with Zippy compact 5000's and 800mah on the Rx.
Had a late session (early morning actually) and Hamish tied off all the wiring and programmed the Tx and I got the battery tray in. Wasn't expecting it to be that far back.Ewan

Guy's,
Looking great - well done.
Weight is great - a result - that Pletty will think it's on holiday.
That model makes Hamish look small - For those that don't know Hamish, he is not 'small' - He'd make two of me

Test flew yesterday arvo with 2 flights in light turbulence. Lived up to expectations, rolls sweet, rudder is strong. We had heard they are a rocket ship, but didn't believe it as it is full 2 meter airframe and a bulky one at that. It's a rocket ship, more than the light 4.6kg, it's a clean airframe that lays it's power down really well. Came back from both 7 min flights with over 30% left in the 5000 packs, we expected around 20%. Throttle curve was set to 90% max for the first flight, 80% for the second. Pletty is on holiday.
Falcon 21.5X13, 60% brake. Lots of options, 3 blades will get tried again. Some rigging adjustment to do. The Hanger 9 incidence meter is a but random at the best of times.
Motor installation is quiet, very happy with that.
It will have 150 flights on it for the Auzzie Masters.
Bryan, thanks for all your help. You have one great design.

Awesome effort guys! A great job done and a great looking model.

The hanger9 incidence meter should be relegated to the round filing cabinet(bin). Do yourself a favour and Get yourself a Wixey. Reuse the hanger9 clamps and bar. Actually, a better place for the hanger9 meter might be your closest competition?

Fantastic to hear the first flights went well. Perhaps that RS prop might be worth a try before the three blade?

Cheers,
Jason.

18 flights on it now and there is no cross mixing in it. Andrew Palmer is coming from the South Island today for 2 weeks and bringing his Allure which is in the final stages of set up and a Wixey meter for us.
Getting the tail planes at the same incidence was the key to getting the trim right and Hamish used an old Robart meter with a level bubble. They are remarkably consistent for comparing one panel to another. The rest of the trim came right with finding the sweet spot for the CG.

Build got ahead of the script writing towards the end so here are some of the final build photos.
Here is the way we have been attaching spats which has a good track record. 1/16 ply (15mm x 50) epoxied to the inboard side of the spat with an MP Jett blind nut. No support at all on the outboard side of the spat, just an access hole. M4 cap used here for axel but M3 has proven reliable.
Tail wheel went as designed but the rudder showed signs of splitting with the self tapping screw for the spring as it was on the join line of the rudder halves. Patch was Kevlar and glass and an M2 blind nut epoxied in.
Wendy dropped in with this Rans Coyote. Our strip is 220X20meters. Landing roll was about 50 meters. Vortex generators on the LE reduces stall speed by 4 knots. Nice tough little aeroplane.
Right F3a box marker is just off her right wing tip.
