Exclamation Battery Tray: Leveling and Alignment Questions

I know there are many theories and schools of thought on the subject of battery trays in electric pattern aircraft. AS I am beginning a new build, I'd like to poll the experts and try to get a consensus on two questions:

1. Leveling the battery tray: I've always done this by setting the fuselage to 0 deg level as if I am setting the wing incidence and leveling it to zero as well, both laterally and longitudinally. Thoughts?

2. Alignment: I was taught to set the battery tray in line with the thrust line of the motor/prop in the fuselage to prevent pull towards the gear or canopy. If this is wrong, please educate me on the best way!

Thanks in advance!

I am no "expert" by any stretch of the imagination but, I have used both #1 and #2 above with success for many years and will continue to do so as I set up my 2M pattern planes in the future. As a spin-off, a large number of the current pattern flyers have made their battery trays removable.

I doubt that #1 would have as much effect as #2.

Hi,
1 : I think this is not critical.
2 : In my mono's 2x2 setup, i set my batteries to be in the same line as the wing (the tray has to be set lower so the center of the batteries are in center of the wing)
In my bipes 2x2 setup i set the center of the batteries to be equally spaced between the wings.
In the past, i tried an adjustable mounting for experimental, but found that the above explantation worked best for me.
