Default F3A Skyleaf biplane from Argentina WC now available

It looks like Futaba USA is selling the WC winning airplane from Argentina
$4000 with Futaba brushless servos and a transmitter case
No idea if its composite wings or balsa/film or who makes the airframe for Futaba
I dont know if its standard, Contra or both for fuselage option.
It is showing in stock so Im assuming that means here in the USA already ?

Composite fuselage with film covered wings. I found some other pictures which indicates BJ Craft construction.

Found the manual for the plane...

https://y7f9t7w2.stackpathcdn.com/wp...der_manual.pdf

Looks like you determine thrust angles so Contra or Outrunner is up to you
Still trying to figure out if the nose ring to spinner gap is designed for one or the other ...

BJ Craft is building that plane exclusively for Futaba. Not available through the normal BJ Craft dealers.

For some reason, this biplane just looks "different" or "odd" to me, at least compared to other modern F3A biplanes. I don't know exactly what it is ...but obviously it flies quite well!
$4000 including Futaba BLS servos seems to be about right for a composite fuse/film covered wing, at least compared to other 'non Oxai/Hui Yang' manufacturer planes, as BLS servos are not inexpensive.

Too bad F3AUnlimited isn't carrying it...I'm not sure how FutabaUSA will handle support and parts for planes

From my understanding BJ Park has an exclusive arrangement on this one plane.

Futaba USA listed price:

6 x BLS173SVi: $140 x 6 = $840
1 x BLS175SV: $170
Total $1010

The ordinary silver metal Futaba Double Air Transmitter Carrying Case is about $180
so the blue version is probably at least in that price region.
Total $1190 for above.

Bondaero in UK sell this plane (without servos and case) for 2631 = US$ 3335.

I've seen one in the skin, the wings are a looong way back from the front of the plane.

I can only imagine they sacrificed tail moment to be able to place the CG further back down the fuselage to make it less "nose heavy" when the fuse is the "wing" during knife edge.

Thank you, now that you point that out, perhaps that is why it looks different or strange to me
The wings look like where you would expect to see a canalyzer on a monopolane

Again, based on the WC results, it obviously does fly well ! Just strange that it is so different from most other F3A biplane designs I've seen.

Hello ITC

"Again, based on the WC results, it obviously does fly well ! Just strange that it is so different from most other F3A biplane designs I've seen."

Onda flied and won WC with Naruk biplane Ascent engine Yamada and not with Leader.

Thank you for the correction. For some reason, I thought there were pictures posted of him flying this airplane at the WC...my mistake.

It looks as though Onda is only JPN Team pilot not flying the Skyleaf for WC 2019. He's shown with the Accel from Akiba and used it in the team selection events as well...….https://www.facebook.com/pg/teamjapanf3a/posts/

I think you have your pilots mixed up Ted. Onda is on the right and he is flying the Skyleaf Leader. I spoke to him in March and he indicated at the time he intends to fly this model at the WC.

The Japanese team is all e-power?

I did find a photo of Onda posing with the Skyleaf Leader at the 2017 WC. Did he fly that in preliminaries and the Ascent pipe in the finals?

Hello

Friend of mine French Team told me Onda did every fly with Ascent Yamada in WC 2017.
Pictures of Onda with Leader are only for Futaba advertising.
