Anyone tried Hyperion in a 2x2 yet?
Hi Guys, I have been surfing all over the net and I'm unable to find any info on the Hyperion Z40 and 50 series motors with regard to which is the most favourable to install in my Genisis.
Has anyone had any experience with this brand, and which motor did you use? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Marc.

Marc, I am using a z5045/18 B motor in a 15lb 12s setup (to big for the Genesis)
also using a z5025/22 B in an 11lb yak on 10s , spins a 20x10e but runs a bit warm (19x10e might be better) 2500 watts
the z50/25/22 is 595 grams and would be a good light setup, watch the motor temps
the B motors have fans and are backmountable saving weight, but you prob would need a z5035 motor for extreme power, and I dont think they make one B version yet, they are 695 grams, but the mount will add a bit more . not to much info on their uses out there. but they do have a good 10s/12s wind (190kv)
all these motors seem to run best on an esc that has an accelleration adjustment( up til now only the jeti spin, soon out will be the new hyperion esc with accelleration adjustment)

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the info... I'm still trying to get to grips with all this electric stuff, but it's definitely the way to go!
The research I've done so far points to one of either the 5025-20, who's KV is the same as the AXI 5330/F3A(235) but swings a 2" smaller prop, or the 5025-22, with a lower KV (215) but bigger prop.
I think that the 5035 is a bit too heavy at 730g (not sure where you got 695g... I got my info on aircraft-world.com) as well as having too low a KV(190) ... Remember that we are limited to a max voltage of 42V (10S) in the F3A class
Decisions, decisions

RE: Anyone tried Hyperion in a 2x2 yet?
the motor I am using on my yak is a Z5025/22 B back mount version with fan, I use 10s1p hyperion 3700ma packs
I have been flying on a 20x10e and the motor runs quite warm
I agree the motor is the right weight , but I wonder if it will provide the right performance.
choose the B version motor to save weight and get the cooling fan
use a 19x12e prop maybe and make sure you have good airflow to the motor.
