Default Trimming out a 3D/Pattern Plane

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to go about trimming out a 3D/pattern plane? I want to know in what order is best and how to accomplish each phase of the trim/setup process. I am new to this sport/hobby so a nice detailed step by step process that may already be on a website would be great.

I'll also add that you have to make up your mind do you want 3D or pattern, 3D generally uses a much farther back cg and huge throws where pattern uses less throws and a more forward cg.

Don't have the link but had a lot of luck with the article Peter Goldsmith wrote on trimming. It can be found on the IMAC webpage.

Thanks for all the responses, especially the link to nsra. That was what I was looking for. Now if I could just figure out all the terminology I think it would make more sense. As far as which I'm am trimming /setting up for I really haven't decided what I like best yet because I just started flying a few months ago. I'm leaning more towards pattern right now so I guess that is what I will trim/setup for. I have an Extra 330 from Seagull and I just bought my first computer 6 ch radio the other day
