Neu Motors. You can order them through Castle Creations (Castlecreations.com), or check out Neu's clearance page where I found mine (http://www.neumotors.com/store/page18/page18.html).

The Neu is an absolute MONSTER in this plane. You would need to fabricate a custom mount - front and rear support. I made mine from pieces of CF Plate from Hobby King.

6.7 because its running on 10s. 5.2 might work well on 8s. But my setup pulls only 3000mah swinging 19x12 at 7300rpm.

I finally flew the Wind on 8S, similar to the recommended set-up but with the Hacker A50-14L (300kV). I tried with 2 different battery set-ups: the first being 5000mah 3S 20C packs added to my now 3-year-old 5S packs, and also a new set of 4000mah 20C packs. Prop was an older 18x10e APC (before the big prop redesign, so a skinny light weight prop that seems very easy to flex).

I set the timer for 7min with the 5000mah packs, and landed with about 3.8V/cell. Flight performance was noticeably lighter feeling (200grams or so lighter than before). The biggest advantage is the plane doesn't want to drop as much during slower rolling manoeuvres.

Dropping to 4000mah, I set the timer to 6:45 (since there was seemingly plenty of juice left in the 5k packs), and landed with exactly 3.7v/cell (remember these are brand new packs). Plane felt lighter still, and had plenty of steam in vertical manoeuvres, and easier still to maintain altitude in rolling manoeuvres.

13mph winds today, blowing straight in. The plane seemed like it was much easier to get blown in, but also seemed a little quicker to get back on track.

I miss the longer flight times of my 10S system. I was routinely using about 3000-3200mah for a good length practice flight (a few moves longer than the intermediate sequence) and did buy some 5S 4000mah packs. I'm going to try a new prop, just to level the playing field, before switching back. I've got on Scorpion motor currently being serviced, and my Neu inrunner. Mounting the inrunner is a challenge (especially the rear mount) and I'm questioning whether or not I want it back in the plane - my new goal, especially in RC flying, is to keep it simple. I've been experimenting and going against the grain since I've started, and it's only cost me time, frustration, down time, and a stupid amount of money. If I'm going to take pattern serious, I need a reliable system that is easy to remove/replace/repair.

Overall, I think the wing on this plane it too big for a true pattern plane (which is why it was marketed as a hybrid with the optional 3D stab), I think I don't like the 0-0-0 layout of the plane, and I think the tiny motor box is just plain dumb - way too difficult to use anything but the Hacker, the rear mount is junk, and the PCB material on the firewall is fatiguing. I'm going to fly this plane for another year and hopefully grab a 2M Osiris when it's available.

Oh yeah, 300kv motor and 18x10 prop pulled 75A and was COLD after flying, though Batts and esc were warm.

That's pretty similar to my setup except I'm using the 16L.

I think for what the aircraft is, it's pretty good, for a while. But the airframe has a lifespan. After about 500 flights mine's stating to wear. things are falling to bits but hopefully it'll stay together till something new arrives.

After that it'll probably get a set of 3D stabs and become a freestyler.

Stock setup is by far and away the best combination for this plane - new V2 Hackers shouldn't have any issue with heat, and the APC v2 props are definitely better. Maybe carbon even better than that? I want to try an 18x12 on my A50-14L but my batteries seem a little weak (down to 3.2v under load). I'm now pulling 65A and 1800W on 8S, about 3200mah/flight.

4000mah packs felt a little light, but the power/weight with the 5000mah packs feels just right.

I worked on some trimming yesterday, plane was flying really, really well.

That was a lot of expensive experimentation - I wish I just bought the plane and never read any of these posts before hand

HAHAHAHA, it's all about the journey man.

I've been tempted to do a Dave Lockhart style carbon faced APC, and see if I can get some better performance, but I don't think it's really needed.

Also the other thing that's made a big difference to mine was removing the crappy ply engine retainer plate, fitting 4/40 blind nuts and bolts and a carbon retainer plate removes nearly all the assymetic movement of the motor. It's quieter and appears to be happier now.

If you try a PT CF prop you will probably notice a difference.

They make a noticeable difference in the 2M sizes, and even on the 62" Osiris the extra stiffness and lightness of the prop is welcome. Using a 16x10 on that one with Hacker A50 12S on a 5S set-up.

Thanks Bob, was thinking about that on the way into work today. Actually all the experimenting just paid off as my Yak is going to use my extra batteries and probably the Neu. I was shocked that the plane has less weight up front than with the OS 120ax, even with my heaviest 10s packs.

Want to try a little more prop, maybe 18x12, but have to make sure my batteries can handle the load. Otherwise, ill probably run a composite 18x10 and stop playing around and start flying

I have to admit that stock combo is really the best choice for this bird, the only minus is that it is 8S. Still, I am absolutely happy with my AXI 5320/28 on 10S and 18x10. Still, on 18x12 it would be ideal, just would be pushing the motor a bit too much, have to get me a XOAR 18x12, they are a bit less power hungry.

I have a xoar 18x13 that I am eager to try. Not much available in 18 or 19 diameter with more than 12 pitch.

Also want to try a newer 18x12 apc. I'm wondering if a lot of the differences I noticed with the 19 last year were due to the stiffness.

I definitely want cf props when/if I figure out a single prop I like for each plane.

Oh, also finding that my Hacker has been flying on the flat part of the voltage curve, so 8+ min flights are no problem with 5000mah. The power is good, a few extra rpm I guess but really good vertical pull.

Some don't like the look but if you do I had good luck painting the inside of my canopy with Pactra "Paint for R/C cars". I think I did three coats (silver) lightly misted on....

I just bought it used at a steal! The only thing wrong with it was a crack in the canopy so I'm replacing it.

The oracover has got rub marks from going in and out of the wing older/bags etc. Gonna try some scratch X and see if it works. If not I'm just gonna fly the pants off it and not worry about it.

OK, that looks freakin awesome!! Is that the original canopy and just painted to look like it does? Care to share what you did there.

Yes thats the original. No tricks, just masked of what I liked and sprayed it. The silver is rustoleum ultra cover metallic aluminum which matches the trim well altough kind of a semi flat finish. insperation came from a top fuel hydro and I like the "cab over" look
