Hi Isaac,

I found this on the Gorilla web site http://www.gluegorilla.co.uk/gorilla...-cure-24-p.asp which I thought might be useful info for everyone here.

Regards,

Andy.

Saving 16.5 gram =(207-196)+(207-196)/2(saving the lateral weight)

I tried to equilibrate the wings weight by using the heavy balsa parts for the light wing and vice versa,
and sand the heavy wing slightly more.

Hi
When you tried to equilibrate the wing weight - I just curious if it's matter if the CG of one wing must be the same as the other wing? I mean that the CG have to be at the same distance from the wing root of each wing.

the build looks great!!!

Hi Danile,

No, it doesn't matter where the CG of the wings is.

There are two balances which must be done before you to take off to the test flight:

1. Longitudinal Balance, place the CG according the plan.

2. Lateral Balance, you hold the plane from the prop and the rudder and see if it drops to any side, put some plasticine on the wing tip to balance it, this is the static Lateral Balance.

For the dynamic Lateral Balance see at this Trimming Chart the Tip Weight chapter.

Najary, Again I've been following your build as I did the Osmose 2 years ago. I have a question about the thickness of the carbon plates you used to construct the nose ring and mount for your Hacker C50 14 XL motor. Was that 1.59mm/1/16th inch carbon plating? I'm assuming you will construct the same mount, etc. on this plane. Also, were those "lord mounts" you used to isolate the actual mount from the nose ring? I have a feeling that you were able to glean some vibration dampening and the ability to adjust the thrust angle of the motor. I appreciate both the effort you have put into this actual build and updating the RCU forum on a timely basis. Thanks in advance__Everette

The trick is to saturate the foam with large quantity off CA, about 1CC, together with the gluing of the plywood. that make the foam in this area like stiff block that harden the control surface and prevents flutter.

After I screw the bolts I unscrew them drip little CA in the screwing.

Hi Isaac,
As much as i remember, even the UFO glue is ment to be used with foam, the heat it generates might cause the foam to shrink. Have u checked it out? I also wish to ask, isnt it easier stronger and lighter, to use a round "Dibel" (like in the CAMODEL way)as base for the horns?
Best regards,
Gadi

Hi Gadi

Look at the bottle of the UFO, it's "odorless". (Foam safe)

Hi Gadi,

As for the UFO glue, I didn't notice any foam shrink, in the future, I would definitely continue to use the UFO glue for gluing balsa to form and gluing balsa to balsa.

As for the round "Dibel", I have used this method few years ago, But I prefer the current method because it is stronger and prevents flutter, the weight is about the same and you don't see any screw on the other side.

Best regards,

Isaac Najary

Isaac, Hopefully you will address my previous question when you get around to installing the "motor mount " in your new Xigris. Again, I find every one of your entries/updates inspiring. For 3 years I've struggled with my electrics making weight. Believe me, all of this helps. Thanks_Everette

Isaac,

My apologies if I've missed it, but how much (maximum) deflection are you using on your elevator?

Thanks!
