Default De Ja Vu

Here is a few pics of a new project we have been working on for Matt Kimbro. I will let him answer the majority of the questions as it was his idea lol.

However I will say this. Its called De Ja Vu because it is a combination of the best of everything (so to speak) so you may have seen it before just on several different models. At first I was not really sold on the idea, but after talking with Matt at length and getting it finished I think it will definitely be a force to contend with. (enough so that I will have one for Columbia)

Where have I heard that name before?

Admittedly, Matt's looks a helluva lot cooler than mine!

What's the wing planform? Did you guys reduce the wing area ala Axiome?

Thanks to Chip, this airplane was able to come about.  I had the idea for this airplane back in June; I took 3 of the best performing airplanes and pretty much blended them all together.  Chip really did not like my idea at first and we went back and forth for about a week on the concept of the airplane.  As you see more and more pictures of the airplane, and you really look at it, you will begin to grasp the concept; hence, De Ja Vu.
Steve:
The wing is double-tapered.  No, we did not reduce the wing area due to the canalizer.

From the pictures it appears to be E-power only as there is no cheek cowl visible!

It also has the Neu motors logo on the side of the fuse, which would indicate electric,

You guys are correct it is primarily for electric. You could put a glow motor in it but you will need to do it from the top as it does not have a removable chin cowl. Here are a few more pics of Matts as it is about ready to ship. As far as making the main wing smaller Matt did not want it on this one based on the great performance of the Associate (His dads design) but I think I will try one for myself with CPLR´s formula.

This plane is not and will not be a swept wing plane. However I (we) have the utmost respect for CPLR and because of that we are going to offer a plane similiar to his at an affordable price. This in no way obsoletes the Visa, we are just adding another weapon to our arsenal.

C

BTW I am blown away by the orders and response to this model already.

The main reason why I did not want to make the wing smaller due to the canalizer is stability. The canalizer does not generate enough lift to take it away from the main lifting surface.  The canalizer is mainly on the airplane for any intregrated maneuver.  I did have Chip build the canalizer a little bigger than the Axiome.
Chip is almost done with the plane and I should have early next week.  So it should be flying in about 1 1/2 weeks.

the Associate (His dads design)
Sorry Chip but the Associate was mine in the 90's LOL
Jim's is the Assailant (and like the old days a work of art) you can see it on the NSRCA K-Factor cover this month.
Great job Matt, the plane looks fantastic also wanted to say Great job at the Nats this year.

Matt or Chip,

What are the dimensions of the canalizer? I just built one for one my Partners and just want to see how this one stacks up size-wise. Mine has a 400mm span, that looks to be around 600 or so.

You know I have been after Marcelo to do just that for 8 months lol. In all seriousness it is able to accomodate the four stroke, just the mounting willl need to be done a little differently then in the past. Hopefully if things work out we can discuss this in Columbia as well as you get to see first hand Matts plane as I have been after him to go. Only time will tell as I have been waiting for weeks for some kind of confirmation but to this date have heard nothing.

Can someone explain to me why when I was trying to be discreet about the fact that Associate and Assailant both start with the same 3 letters, RCU will not let me put an A and two dashes. I know many young people log on here but it is hard for me to believe that it would be better to simply spell it out. I have tried to edit a couple of times and it remains the same the dashes do not appear. Am I missing something

Thanks

I thought certain people said Bipes are a thing of the past. lol That's like a bi-bipe. Almost a bipe. hehe

Looks good Matt. Wish I had deeper pockets for a CA plane.. I'm curious to know the weights though.

As a fairly recent re-turnee to pattern, I have no idea what the 4 best planes would be and what features are taken from them. So.... I'd love to hear the details about the design features and their intended effects.
Thanks, Dan

Matts plane finished. As far as the 4 planes I think he meant the following.
1. Look of the Envision fuse in the air primarily the size
2. Visa wing and stab. (No mixing)
3. Passport moments
4. Axiom (T-Can) for rudder authority

Just think back Chip.  A week after the NATS, it was just an idea.  Thanks for all the work and you should be able to rest easy now.
