RE: Spektrum DX6i compatible helicopters
Short answer ,, YES I have a Dx6i and I fly my Trex 450, 500esp & 550e Fbl all without any problems. You could also fly a nitro heli but you would not be able to use a govenor on the motor. So as my local heli shop guru Jeremy says you'd have to program the radio to fly a throttle curve like they did before govenors came along,, No big deal.
My recommendation buy a Dx7 instead, that way you could run a governed nitro heli if you ever wanted to. just my 2 cents

RE: Spektrum DX6i compatible helicopters
I think what you're asking is: can the Spektrum DX6i talk to other brands of radio, the answer is no. If you buy a brand of heli like E-Sky or Walkera, you will have to replace the receiver with a Spektrum receiver (or Spektrum compatible clone). All the other electronics on the heli (ESC, servo, etc) will work with any radio, as far as I know. Watch out for helis that combine the receiver with other stuff, like ESC, onto the same circuit board. That becomes harder (if not impossible) to change just the radio receiver.

I don't know if this will work with the Heli Max brand of helicopters or not?
I know they are introducing this for airplanes, but maybe something in the future with the HeliMax brand?
