I've flown both models of heli and they each fly very nicely. The one to go for in my opinion though is the Trex 450. It's engineered better and spares are easy to get anywhere.

Nice good to know thank you. Especially since you have experience with both birds, I was going to buy blade 450 but changed my mind.

+1 on that !
I've flown the hell out of my Trex 450. Finally retired her about a year ago. I'm flying a Trex 550 FBL now. I'd would highly reccommend the Trex 450 & the Dx6i is a great radio. The only thing I'd say is IF budget allows look into either the new Dx7 or the Dx8. you'll want to upgrade later for sure.

Ok greatly appreciated. Which radio receiver would you use? The stock receiver?

If you buy the radio new I'd use the stock rx if you get one used find a AR6200 for example. If your using a BeastX or 3GX flybarless system you can use just the sats. I flew mine for years on the AR6200. bit more Rx then you need for that size but better safer then sorry.

Alright cool sounds awesome. I'm looking to buy DX7s radio which comes with AR8000 RX for 299. Might as well for what only 90 bucks more than DX6i

Great idea, you won't be sorry with the Dx7. That's the radio I should have bought in the first place

Hey you might also check out the Blade 450X I realy like mine and it is lighter than the Trex 450. This is a video of mine in stock fourm. I have only been flying RC for a year and a half now so nothing extream. But this is a good heli and the layout is better for working on than the Trex 450. And ampdraw.com has them for like 409.00

I'm not too sure that blade 450x for the 500 dollar price mark can match the quality of the trex 450. Aligns package for 500 I'm sure is better than blade I'd assume.

ORIGINAL: crazytom911

what are your opinions ??
I haven't tried the Blade 450, but have experience with the Blade 400 vs several Trex clones.

The Trex wins hands down..

I'm not trying to talk you out of buying a genuine TREX kit if your heart is set on one but don't discount some of the clones available.

all my 450 Helis are TREX clones and two of them have over 1000 completely flawless flights in over 3 years..

All of them have well over 500 flights and I just can't fault them in anyway..

You can get one in the air for about $120 plus your radio..

I fully support your choice of a DX7s, I have a DX6i, two DX8s and a DX7s and for some reason use the 7s 90% of the time. I just love it.

The DX7s and the DX8 both have beautiful silky smooth ball bearing gimbals.. after flying with them, the DX6i feels like it has sand grinding in the gimbals.. (Though it has been a flawless radio in all respects.. just built to a lesser budget... )

Get the Lipo battery from Hobbyking and the 7s will run for 40 hours between charges.

Anyway, good luck with your TREX, I know many will try to talk you out of a clone or tellyou they are junk, but for me they have been brilliant...

A couple of vids....

TREX 450 Clone from Hobbyking - Kit $59 - Servos / motor / ESC / Gyro - $150. Over 1200 flights zero failures with this heli.

This heli kit was $9.99 Yes TEN Dollars... Cost me under $100 with all electrics... Now also over 1000 flights.

I also have two $900 Gauis including a super X5.. to be honest I can't see the point in paying that much again when the clones give far more bang for buck... Just my opinion..

Default RE: TREX 450 W/DX6i vs. Blade 450 RTF

I had a Trex Clone HK 450. It was OK. Would have made a OK heli to learn hovering on and simple FF. Beyond that I'd say no. Lots of slop in the head in the HK parts. The bird was given to me so no complaints, LOL price was right.
I've done some reading on clones, the only one I would concider buying right now is the Tarrot 450. I've read on many forums the quality is as good as Align and you can get a kit a lot cheaper then Align. ( Hobby-Wing.com) Just my 2 cents

Yup, I think so too. I will be looking into getting this kit this spring, so I can have something else to fly. The Flybarless unit has good reviews, and there is decent videos on you tube for programming instructions for the flybarless unit. Get the programming card. It's an option, but is suposed to make setting up the unit & tunning it much easier.

between the two, T-rex... parts are well made and from everyone i've talked to, t-rex is better than Blade (and from my experiance, blade has spotty electronics and expensive parts.)

oh, just saw you got the t-rex, good on ya!
