Question Erratic flight

I have pulled my Master CP out of the moth ball fleet and got it back up in the air. I have it dialed in so that it flies great, I can hold it in a hover in a 1-2 foot area with min. control input. Now that said.... Starting yesterday, I was holding in a hover, out of nowhere, the nose went up about 45 degrees and pulled max pitch.... I put no control input to cause this...... Now today, I'll be flying and out of nowhere it will just pull pitch on its own, jerk violently for no reason... not drift but jerk with no response from the controller... My batteries are junk, this I know, they only last about 4-5 min but like I said, I've been letting it sit on the shelf due to me flying other craft... Could the bad batteries cause this? Before this started, I could tell voltage drops and spikes holding it in a hover but it was correctable by having to increase or decrease pitch... Could this glitchy behavior be from batteries gone bad and power surging?
