Default The official "show off your helicopter" thread.

Since i'm bored, and i'm curious as to see what everyone else is flying, I thought i'd start a post so we can all share images and videos of eachothers birds.

So, if you've got any fancy pics of your helicopter laying around, slap em in this post and show us what you've got!

I'll get the ball rolling here:

Here's two pictures of my two helicopters.
One is a micro fixed pitch. Based on a GWS Dragonfly frame, modified with some Walkera #4 parts, plus the Walkera 4in1 controller. Using a direct drive tail.
Second is an Ikarus eco-8, setup with eCCPM and a Jeti Phasor 30-3 brushless motor. Ignore the canopy, it's a placeholder untill I get a new one! [:'(]

heh heh heh... here's mine, notice there's no gyro, I'd also get you a pic of it spinning but I lost a tooth on the main gear and I couldn't find my canopy (it's neon orange) notice the tail rotor colors in the second pic. also that's my bare li-poly that I use, nice huh?

thecheatscalc, I tried imageshack with the [img] tags and it doesn't like it.
If you go to [link=http://www.photobucket.com]photobucket[/link] they host your pictures for free, and you can link your pictures in a thread.
My pictures are hosted by photobucket.

The battery is what's used to power the eco
It's a 10 cell sub-c pack, 3300 MAH.
I've got a few 8 cell packs in the works now too.

I'd go LIPO, but the kind of LIPO i'd need for that helicopter is pretty expensive so i'm sticking with the 10 cell packs for now. They work good and have a longer life than LIPO batteries. I can charge them quicker too .
My next purchase will be a UBEC so I can get rid of the receiver battery as it adds needless weight.

Here is my Elite Pro 3D with Custom anodized MIA ALU and TUFF Struts LG and Gyro Plate retrofit. Despite the not so favorable customer service that came with the PRO from century at the time I bought it, I decided I really liked the heli enough to justify designing and producing a limited batch of my own matching anodized alu gyro plate and struts designed around its alu frame using the standard micro heli MIA TUFF LG/Skids retrofits.

I see no reason why not. Alot of people paint them and/or put stickers over them . I intend to do a purty paint job for my eco-8 in a red/white scheme. I'll be getting a blood red "pheonix" vynil applique for both sides of the canopy, then use some automotive paint to do some red patching over the bottom half, should look really nice when it's done (and when I get the new canopy to do it on ).

PalmSizeHeliMan, I really like that mounting system you've got there, i'd love something similar like that for my micro FP bird.

Cheatscalc, I guess sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet..

lol i have never flown my heli with the canopy before. im probably just going to get one of those align 3k canopies since i suck at painting. i would get more metal red parts (which are pretty cheap $50-75 will probably buy everything above the swash at retail). there's just something that repulses me about it...the extra rotating mass. my goal is good flight time and the plastic stuff is light and works fine.

im going to try out trex XL tail pitch slider since the stock ark one can move around a bit too much. i plan to use like90 272's on this thing (it should work if the stock ark blades are 280). with the high lift efficiency ravings and a major increase in motor efficiency, i might break 20minutes of flight time with my $30 lipo

I want to paint my cal 30...what do you guys think about an all flat black caliber 30???? I think it would look sweet. should I do it? I'm a little worried it will be hard to spot though.

Black is a bad choice in color for a canopy. You're better off with an easy to spot color. All dark colors can cause problems, especially with orientation in the sky.

Theres a reason all pro pilots use very bright, multi-colored canopies
