Good morning fellow modellers
A week late but better then never (real life sux)
I took some time to check out all the parts that are pre assembled and took some pics .
Firstly , the parts have impressed me
it appears even the lenght are corretc and symetrical menaing both sides are equal
I will most probably take the head appart but I am very impressed with the build quality form factory so far.

I've bought the ver 1 kit, ver head and numerious spare parts to built my dual-rotor heli. The beast still needs more parts (mainly because I want mostly of SJM's parts in it) and I'm running out of funds. Anyone here want to sell off a SJM ver 1 kit for cheap?
I'm trying to attach a prelim picture if I can figure this posting thing out

well, couldn't wait and got one. Finding slops n the flybar, swashplate and tail rotor. And it's like the bell hiller mixer arm would come into contact with the CF swash guide. Hope I don't need that much movement.

Not understanding what you mean by slop in flybar? It's a floating fly bar... do you mean in the center hub?
Just got my v.1 a couple days ago...
Everything on mine seems to be rock solid.
My only concern right now is actually the fly bar links being TOO tight and restricting/reducing flybar response. I'm going to
disassemble and refit the links.
I'm not going to have any time to work on mine for about a week but I would like to know of any problems you guys encounter
and I will post mine as well.

The ball links on mine has excessive play. It can be seen when I twitch it. I can replace them and also the tiny bolts at the tail rotor assy to remove the play, but the swash plate can wobble around on itself and abouot the mast and there's little I could do about it.
Sounds like you got a good one.

Removed most slop in the tail rotor linkages by prying the open holes tighter. Test flew the thing using the brushless from my decommissioned Zoom (3600kV). According to instruction manual this is close to the lower limit (4000+kV preferred) and the thing tends to get blown away by the slightest breeze. Battery dies fast and get swollen too. Will try again with a stronger motor.

I found some slop in my tail rotor but it was mostly in the slider shaft. I contacted RC-TEK and they are sending me another slider.

What motor? Mine didn't come with one and I have the Zoom's sitting there. Anyway I'm putting a Z-Power 450CE in it. The tail rotor still has slop in the slider like yours, good luck with the replacement part.

Ok, my kit had the motor included.
How stable was it when you did fly?
I understand the breeze thing, I try to only fly in calm conditions since I am a novice heli pilot.

RE: SJM v II --- Build report and Review
I'm done with this heli. I just wish I hadn't bought it. It's not the normal breeze thing that, in addition to just shift or drift it always want to flip over and dive right in! During flight (if dared) it sort of tumble around like it had a mind of its own. I'm clueless staring at that "3D" sticker on it, like I was Bruce squaring up his enemy. Maybe it was just me I hope yours doesn't do the same but if it does come forward and tell. And yes there's no direct adjustment for blade tracking I had to adjust the linkages on each side of the Bell-Hiller mixer arms. Who has seen a worse nightmare?
What I do? Got a Dragonus Pro Elite (gift from dear wify). It's a real bummer having to switch and buy another so soon and really frustrated, but today when I pulled the guts out the SJM I feel a GRRRRREAT relieve.

The SJM400 is a great heli and hundreds of our SJM customers would agree. I wonder if you just got a lemon, which does happen once in a blue moon. Whoever you bought it from should have either replaced it for you or helped you fix it so the bird flies like the rest of them out there.

Scott

With most things it's not that easy for a get back here in HK. Haven't tried tho... it's now behind me anyway except I get to see how my friend's gonna fly it. SJM is not very popular here actually I haven't seen anyone fly it just heard a few.
