help picking out heli
Here is the deal
I have a light machines corona and basically do anything i want with it. I will not try loops or roles because it is FP and to heavy. But it is a fun bird. I really want to get into cp but the price is KILLING me. A 30 size Nitro is going to cost as much as a frequen 27% Cap on tower. Something as small as a T-rex is going to cost equivlent to my Funtana x50 which set me back 700 out the door. I just don't have that much to spend right now.
I was thinking of two possibilities
1. By a 200 dollar micro like the axe cp or balde cp
My worries are
1. Not that much authority or control
2. Way to weak and easy to break
3. No wind capapbilitites ley
2. By something and put all of the corona equipment in it (probab would have to buy lipo's though)
It has a multyplex brushless motor with a kv of just under 3200, castle creations 35amp esc, 3 hs 81's , one helimax micro piezo gyro (not the best gyro, but it works).
BTW i have a heli capable radio

RE: help picking out heli
i bought falcon 3d which comes with HH gyro/brushless/TX etc for $299
[theres a thread in the heli beginners forum]
it is a good bird once you get past some quality issues [which you expect for the $$]
i do wish i got a trex but there is no way i could afford it

I think that after you have been on a bigger heli like the Corona, you will be disappointed with anything less than a T-Rex.
I also think you should keep your Corona together. Not much from that is going to transfer over to the T-Rex or anything smaller.
Get a T-Rex with the stock motor and ESC.
4x HS65
Futaba GY401 gyro

I am not sure but it apears my equipment might fit into a shogun
I know it probaley isn't as good as a rex but it is in the same price range and same size.

Yeah, I agree that the Trex is the way to go. The 450SA (bare bones) is around $199 at most places. The money you spend on servos, gyro, battery packs, brushless motor and controller is only spent once. All that stuff will transfer to you next electric heli kit. So buy decent stuff with that in mind. I just flew my Trex for the 3rd time ever today and it was real windy too. The wind used to ruin my chances of an afternoon flight on my previous fixed pitch heli. Those days are gone. It is very predictable in its flight characteristics too. I used to have a collective pitch Walkera 22E it was a handful to fly.
Everybody recommends the Trex for a reason, you'll see when you get yours.
The 450SA has an excellent manual too. Along with the help from these groups you'll be able to fly a great heli.
Biggest hurdle for me was radio setup and dialing in throttle and pitch curves.
Since you already have a heli capable radio you have a head start on your rig.
One other important thing to consider is that everybody and there mom makes Trex parts, mods, spares etc...
Hope this helps you... Robo
