Newbee help with chopper choice
I have been fly rc airplanes for over 15 years and have lots of experience with it, however I have NEVER played around with RC Helicoptors. I just purchased the new Futaba 2.4GHZ radio system and was looking at getting a helicopter for it. Anyways, as I dont expect my first heli to last very long I'm kind of looking for something inexpensive. I figure I will go Hitec servos and but need to know what a decent, but not brake the bank, gyro would be.
As far as Heli I'm kind of undecided.
The ESKY Belt-cp looks like it might fit what I'm looking for but I cant tell if there are replacement parts available.
Does anyone have experience with it?
Also I was thinking about buying the $20 flight sim set up from Raidentech, will this help?

P.S. there are a lot of heli guys at my field that can check out my setup and make sure it flies well, before I try taking the sticks.

on the cheap the Telebee gyro is ok for learning with.
http://www.helidirect.com/product_in...roducts_id=494
Futaba GY240 is better

Futaba GY401 better yet

Ask your heli guys at the field what heli they would suggest.

well you can get this t-rex for about the price you would pay for the blade belt and you get the brushless setup. http://www.bananahobby.com/1011.html

RE: Newbee help with chopper choice
I'm tempted to go for the Trex because it looks like its much easier to get parts, my question is it a superior flying helicopter to the belt cp?
I can get the belt cp with a 1800 lipo, brushless motor and esc for $166 from Hobby Japan.
Should I do it, or ponny up for the trex?

i would say the t-rex. the t-rex is a i better heli and more stable from what most people say around here. im getting one in about a month. im tried of tail motors.but yes the t-rex would be a better choice..most people leave the blade and go to the t-rex..

jeffk464 parts for the cp are not hard to get in our area either but after the t-rex i would think the next step is gas, so i guess t-rex is top of the line electric heli

There are much larger electrics out there that are just as good or better. With, of course, a much higher price tag.

Yes, I was reading about an 8 foot long apache helicopter, All ELECTRIC, in the new AMA magazine. Very impressive, but probably outside my budget and abilities .
I really dont expect my first Heli to last forever, or very long at all, so I want to focus on getting a good electronics.
So far I went with
Futaba 6EX 2.4ghz transmitter
s3114 futaba servos
Telebee gyro
esky motor and esc

You are off to a good start with the electronics part of this hobby. That and your extensive experience indicates that you are pretty serious when it comes to RC aircraft. That said, I would go with a T-Rex. Just my .02 worth.

If you are looking for a semi-disposable helicopter, bphobbies.com is selling an Esky Cool for $75. The Cool has been discontinued but shares a lot of parts with the King so you should be able to keep it flying for a while.
