i think your right, i was cofusing the 0%..i see what your saying now...ok....I was able to try it today and YES<<<<HURRAHHHHH,,,,,it worked...My Heli is Rock Solid in the Air and i can actually take my right hand off Transmitter and it just sits there in the air..Tail just stays straight,,,especially in Idle up and i only have my Idle up 75% which to some people that's low but for me it was fine cause the head speed was fast and scary. I am so into this Raptor E550 now...It Flies incredibly Smooth and Tracking is Super perfect..I got CF T.Tiger 550mm Blades on there...

So that's my feedback today on the E550......Successful Trimming and now i'm ready for the Field.........

great!!! glad you got it figured out. as far as the TC being set for 75% in idle up, that's fine. go with the head speed that YOU are comfortable with.. what is perfect for one person may be to fast or to slow for another. I run 85% in idle 1 and 100% in idle 2.. but I also geared my hurricane down so at 100% I have a head speed of 1900.. works great for me.. others like head speeds around 2300-2400 but they like hard core 3D.. and I don't...

Alright , I know I want the raptor E620 and I know i want to swing at least 600 mm Blades. Now what can i do for power options? I do sport flying , no 3D and no plans on doing 3D. I'd like to come up with a power option that will let me use the same Batteries in my Hurricane. I was looking at the Z-30 and running two 3s linked like the hurricane but I'm assuming that wont be enough power. what about 3 linked 3s in essance a 9s pack and the z-30? I have a poly 4 charger so I can charge 4 packs at a shot. I can see I'm about to hurt my Cerdit card again

9S Might work but how about 4 3S, in series and parallel so you'd end up with 6S2P?

Druss,
Do you think the z-30 would work for this with the 9s?
I've been searching around for motor options but I'm not fnding much at all. seems that most people are running Z-50 with 10s. I'd hate to get the z-30 only to find out its to high or to low a KV with the 9s. I've never been able to figure out these power systems. I cant find a good arf or combo package for this bird. Maybe I should wait and see what happens with the Trex 700. Lord knows there will be more combo and ARF packages than you can shake a stick at within a week of its release.
Thanks
(BTW I cant belive noone has taken you up on the 550 you are selling you cant beat that price)

Why dont u just get the E550 instead of the E620..U wont be spending as much money on things such as batteries and so forth...Just a suggestion..I had the E620 and Sold it on RC Groups cause i could not stand Running a 10s. I like to have at least 4 batteries when i'm at the Heli park and to try and purchase four 10s Batteries was an Outrage...So i sold it and eventually got this E550 which i'm only using a 5s and price is more practical and its still BIG....not that much difference in size from the E550 from E620......Just a inch or 2 in Boom size and longer blades? That's All....This E550 is the Baummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm@!!!!!!

Thanks guys, I thought it was a pretty good deal too but have only had low ballers so far... one guy offered $300 for everything...

As to the motor, here is a calculator that you can use to find the rpms based on the gears, motor kv and efficiency and the battery. Whether that particular motor will work or not I'm not sure.

rhampton ,
1) I'm hoping to put a power system in that will use 3 3s packs I can get them in 4000 mah for aroung 60 so i could get 6 and i could also use them in my hurricnae 550.
2) the extra inch or two is exactly what I'm after, otherwise I'd just go with a Trex 600 or another Hurricane with the long boom kit

I may just do the Trex 600 anyway. Next year by summer the pack prices will drop again or they will have the quartz lipo or some other improved lipo out.

Druss,
Thanks
for the link but I might as well be staring into the human brain. I just dont know enough to use it(the calculator that is I think I'm using what little brains I have).
The hight of my motor / gearng expertise was figuring out that I could use the Z-20 on my hurricane after reading several posts on it.[X(]

I hear ya man....That sounds like a good plan u got there..Trex600 isnt a Bad deal either..I seen some really nice ones out there and they Fly Really good..Once u get one, u never want to get Rid of it..That's how addicting the Trex600 can be...I probably would like it just as much as the E550..I came that Close to gettn one too..Good luck on your Search....
I think my Next Heli is gonna be a HDX 500..Something Small so i can fool around with in front of the Apt or in parkn Lot..

I've got a art-tech Falcon 3D. Its a 400 size. I strap a 3s 2200 mah under the skids and go totaly ape with it. Its nice to have a Heli that I dont have to be careful with, every time i take that one up I'm sure its gonna be the last time it ever flies
I need to get a new feathering shaft for it so i can try a loop for the 1st time.

I actually ended up going with the Thunder Tiger E550 Raptor. As it stands the E550 is much larger than the Hurry.

E550

Overall length: 1150mm (45.27")
Main rotor dia: 1245mm (49")
Tail rotor dia: 237mm (9.33")
Main rotor blade: 550mm
Tailblade dia: 92mm

550 Hurricane

Overall length: 1060mm (41.73”)
Main rotor dia: 1110mm (43.30”)
Tail rotor dia: 222mm (8.74”)
Main rotor blade: 550mm
Tailblade dia: 84mm

I dont think the size difference between the two would be considered a much larger heli.... I can stretch my Hurricane to run 600-620 blades no problem, Heli kit is cheaper and and parts for it are just as abundant if not more than the Rappy's. With the price difference between the kits you could of blinged out the Hurri..

Did TT not already discontinue the E550?

I think you should check out the 550 sized electric helis that Century have been making since 2005. The first was the Swift 16, followed by their Swift 550SE, which is a C/F version with many other features.

I, and a number of others here, have been flying them for many years now. They are easily set-up to be gentle trainers or pretty hot 3D performers using 4S or 5S or 6S packs.

They just introduced the Swift 550NX a couple of months ago.

http://www.centuryheli.com/products/...?currentid=654

There is a lot of info about them, since their introduction, on many forums dedicated to the larger electric helis on the net.
