very nice HT. i love it! it looks monsterous. you better check out finless videos on that build. very important that you have the bolts loctite on a heli that size. my goodness i can only imagine what that will sound like in the air. my hands would be shaking all over the place flying that thing. just be careful man and take it easy with that. that is defintely one big bird.

flight 17 and 18 came and went this afternoon at field. first pack was awesome. did some full collective while piro. second pack however wasnt as smooth. went to take her up and hit the idle up switch but a bit of down drift from the wind made it hit the ground and slid the landing claws upward alittle. . while still hovering i didnt know what to do with the landing claws not straight for landing. but i had to take her down. it landed a little tilted with no damage. whew. straighten out the landing claws and took her up again. and she flew around in the wind with no problem. picked up a pair of new 340's main woodies from blade and a set of new tail rotor blades. the logitech 2100t with the 9257 is doing an awesome job at the tail with no drift.

cant wait for flight 19 and 20 tommorrow.[8D]

i actually got the canopy from Dave. he has the clear, gold, and silver anodized canopy. he had one trimmed and sold it to me. I just put the decals on it. looks sweet. i finally cut out the openings for some air-flow and it has helped with the cooling big time.

Dave has the canopies on his website. Mars480.com

flight 19,20,21,22 went awesome. . almost had a close call with a very tall tree on flight 22. almost hit it going full throttle FFF and nearly hit it as i make a hard right bank with some positive pitch. Dave thought i nicked a branch coming around.. i just now moved the mixing arms to the inner hole for 3d setup. she's sure flys nice right now and having tons of fun with it. lots of close calls but she always recovers nicely.

check out the blades on her now.

man this bird just keeps getting better. flight 23,24 went spectucular.. i'm flying in circuits that i have never done before. nose in FFF is now alittle easier than it ever has. moving the mixing arms to the inner hole has given great results. only thing this needs now is an all metal head and its perfect. I managed to pull one flip and a roll. it did well but i didnt want to get too cocky and crash my nice flying heli.

awesome noob! is it the heli or your flying skills getting better lol... fired up the mars this morning and tested the new radix blades.. The mars is flying great! the BH with the gazaur rotor is so stable, i can hover it in the living room with no problem.. I'm putting a 9254 and 401 gyro on the 600.. i have hovered it with a cheap gaui head locking gyro and i'm not satisfied.. picked me up another 401 at the LHS an hour ago to be installed later tonight... spent 300$ at the LHS today[&:] ... more pics with the helis and the first trex600 spin up...

HT...wow its airborne already? nice! can we get some specs on that bad boy?

Thanks for the encouraging comments.. This is what i do to help me fly. I know it sounds cliche but i close my eyes and imagine the heli in the air and i think about the stick movements i need to do if i want to do something. I also started using the sim for 30 minutes a day doing circuits and nose in. it really works for me.

also use your cyclic in conjunction with the tail to turn the heli. i used to just turn the tail but the more i fly the more i understand the nature of the beast.

I'm deciding on a new heli and have so many great choices. what i really want is a trex 500 cf

Here are the specs noob ..

T-REX 600(GF) Kits set w/fiberglass main blade and cf tail blade
3D Landing Skid
Align RCM-BL75G 75A Brushless ESC(Govener Mode) w/REC-B3X External BEC
Align 600XL Brushless motor
Li-Polymer 7.4V 1900mAh 18C For BEC
APLUS 4500mAh-22C 6S1P
SAVOX SC-0254 Hi-Speed Metal Gear Digital Servo for cyclic
Futaba GY-401 Gyro w/ Futaba 9254 Servo
AR-6200 RX

The 600 went zooming 30ft up in the air with 65% throttle (i over throttled quickly unintendedly).. the motor is so powerful, good thing i was able to bring it down without crashing.. Normal Mode: Pitch curve 0,4,6,8,10.. Throttle curve 0,40,65,85,100.. Expo all at 100% (very responsive cyclic) I got lucky setting it up, did'nt even need to adjust the trim on the radio.. I'm a happy camper!!!!!!!!

One thing about firing up this bird, it gives me the shakes knowing it could hurt somebody real bad.. scary[&:] it did kill some bugs already looking at the blood stains on the main blade

Here is the mars hovering at my driveway and the 600 at the middle of the road

Nice setup HT. I hear that the outrage 6-cell lipos are very good with good power and duration. probably will do really well in your trex600.

I narrowed it down to 3 bird for my possible next heli. the Outrage G5, trex500, or the ms protos. they are all in the 500 class helis. these should be extremely stable and powerful. i will need a 6-cell charger as my charger tops at 4-cell.

The trex 500 would be a good choice noob[&:] i'm going for the zippy 5000mAh 6 cells at hobbycity.. they go for 130$ a pop and with very good reviews almost as good as the 250$ ones

... I got the helis on the floor all lined up next to each other.. hmmmm it seems like there is something missing between the 480 size and the 600 size... trex500? perhaps a hurricane 550? Who knows[&:] i'm already looking for my next heli ........ [:-]
it's either i'm obssesed or possesed[:'(]

another one so soon? where you are gonna put all these helicopters? lol .

yeah i was thinking the trex500 all the way. mostly because parts are just around the corner. and its a great heli. 1 or 2 more weeks and it should be in my hands. just cant wait to watch some finless videos and build that thing. i'm starting to enjoy building these kits. there's a great amount of accomplishment and joy when you set one up and it flys beautifully

i flew 2 packs this afternoon with th mars. 26 packs so far with it. no crash. i'm gonna need more lipos soon. i'm down to 3 packs now. 1 thunder power, 1 flight power, 1 electrifly.

i talked my co-worker friend into buying a co-axial. he has not been able to fly it. so he handed it to me for adjustment. as it turns out all is swash settings is wrong. everything was reversed. it was an easy fix. now i get to fly it around my house for the next 2 days until i see him again at work. I almost forget how fun it was to fly a co-axial in the house. hopefully i wont crash it and damage it before i return it to him. I wonder what he would do if i said yeah its all set up right but i crashed the heck out of it so here's your little toy back. that esky co-comanche sure is fun. i like the wheels too.

Finally flew some this weekend...not enough but at least a couple of packs in.
The Mars flew great as usual...I went from flying the TRex to the Mars and I am still in awe of the tail rotor geometry...man it piro's so fast! I am comfortable with flips and rolls now with it...FFF is not quite as fast as the TRex but it is so much more stable, which makes FF easier...I am getting my loops down pretty nice now. I still have not attempted inverted hovering yet, I still get the shakes when I think about trying it! [X(] [:'(]
I can do it on the sim with stiff winds, so you would think I can pull it off...maybe later this week if I have time to fly.

was wondering where you've been edwin. Good to hear from you again. yeah i love the piro rate on the mars. i toned it down for a better feel....but when i have an urge to spin like a bat out of hell i just dial it in. . i flew 3 packs this morning before work. i havnt been doing any flips or rolls as of late. I'm getting back to basics for now. My flying has never been better. Fig 8's are tighter than before. my nose in has improved greatly. 29 packs with current setup and no crashes. I gonna shatter my 37 packs without a crash record.

i ordered some more gazaur parts knowing i'm gonna go through my spares real quick.. i am pushing myself to new flying maneuvers with the BH.. it's time to step up.. The BH is up and flying again.. forward flight would be the goal i might even need to put the training gears back on i also ordered 6$ gazaur woodies so i'm not trashing a 40$ cf blades during practice flights..

Tropical Storm Fay is currently over Florida and she wont go away.[:@]. could be a whole week before i get to fly again. i guess now is the time to buy a new kit and build it until the rain goes away. I tallied the cost of the trex500 and its over a thousand bucks. since i already have motor, esc, cyclic servos, it would only cost me around 450 bucks for a full metal head Posideon CF Pro kit and have it flying. i guess the trex500 is gonna have to wait cause the mars is about to have a brother.

[&:]how silly of me to think that the flybar paddle stickers for the mars are purely just for bling-bling purposes so what i did was i cut up the red line and the gazaur logo and stuck it to the paddle, it's been that way since i built it.. i was trying to hover the mars in the living room last night and i heard a voice talking to me "Put some clear tape on those paddles and maybe you could get it to hover better[>:]" so i did... wow!!! this beast is stable after all.. i was making my best effort to hover this bird decently so it's not all over the place when all i need to do is patch those holes on the paddles to make it stable.. i wonder what my BH would be like if i do the same thing on it's paddles( the BH is stable already without it, don't know why) , it would probably be hovering like a hummingbird

Does this mean that this bird is not stable without it? I didn't finish the build yet and planned to keep the paddles open.... Now I don't know what to do....[&:]
