RE: Gazaur Mars 480
Does anyone know of a replacement for the tail linkage guides? I need to order a few guides and the horizontal fin holder guide.
I dont really need any booms thats the only way the guides come so i was wondering if anyone knows of any that are better and dont break so easy?
I notice when i fly the tail shaft bows quite a bit and i think that its causing some tail wag and tail control problems.

Hehe, you're goinig to love this- I used guides from the Blade 400 on mine. I recall I had to do a little modding, but not exactly what it was. They don't snap off if you look at them funny, though.

Any of you guys fly with 325mm blades. IM not sure if my motor can handle the 350's (though it has surprised me so far). I was wondering if the 325's will take away some of the stability and if it will make it more or less responsive. I like the Mavrick G5 wide chord blades and they make them in 325 and was thinking about trying them. I hate to drop $40 and not like them though. I found some 335mm carbons for cheap but a couple of review said they were crap. I need some help on this one. I had my mars up for sale but I think Im just gonna keep it its too good of a flyer.

My way of thinking is the longer the blade the more lift for a less rotation. So if you go with a 325 from a 340 your headspeed should be faster to give you the same lift as the 340. Not much, you may not even feel a difference. Your talking somthing like a 1/2" difference right?

I used Rotortech 325s and 350s on mine. The pop is noticeably better with the 350s, but still good with the 325s. Cyclic response and stability seemed about the same.
I don't know about the Mavrikk 325 wides. I do have a pair of them on my Swift 16 (550mm) and they rock on that heli. I didn't know that they made them in 325s, or I probably would have tried a set of them by now .

Well I finally put the whip antenna on my receiver and it didnt help. I even changed the crystal to eliminate that. Its a Futaba R168DF. Even with the whip antenna once you get about 40 or more feet if you so much as just touch the antenna with the tip of your finger it will go crazy. I checked the tower hobbies receiver in my plane again and it does pretty good and doesnt go crazy when you touch the antenna. My pcm receiver does fine. What do you guys use as a rule of thumb on range checking with antenna down on how many feet is acceptable. I guess I will just have to buy another receiver. The receiver isnt that old maybe barely over 2 years. In the pics is the white silicon looking stuff normal.

90% of the receivers i use are the cheap $10. esky FM receivers that come with the honeybee king. My gazar helis i use the big FM 8ch because they are larger and will hold the big receiver but my others i use the cheap esky king receiver and i dont have any problems.
I also fly around power lines behind my home, i know its not very safe but its a place to practice.
Actualy i do have an esky in my posiden, forgot i had one in it.
I cant tell the difference in either, i get them both about 150 yards out at times when i fly and i dont get any glitches.
What i do is as the antenna comes out of the back of the receiver, i route it threw a little hole in the bottom of the frame, then i run it back to the tail and loop it around a rubber band this keeps it kinda taut then i go back to the other side of the frame and tie a knot in the end. This way the full length of the antenna is exsposed so i get the full range or as close as i can get it.
Ive yet to have the wire get damaged in a crash so far ive been lucky i guess. If it did ide try and replace it or just drop another $10. on a new receiver.

Ive read alot of good posts about "berg" FM receivers. I cant tell you about the hitec receivers ive never used one.
Did you say you tried your other receiver in the heli your having problems with?

I didnt actually put the other receivers in my heli and fly just range checked them. The one that was in my heli is the only one acting crazy. Im trying to find a negative shift electron 6 to use. I think the one in the link may not work well with hard flying.

I've used the Berg 7Ps and gotten some good results with them. I had one heli they just didn't like, but overall a good history, and you can program with the CastleLink if you want to make your life more complicated . The only FM radio I have left in a heli is the R146iP that I have in one of my MXs.
It'd be great to hear about how the Mavs fly, btw. I don't know about stability I've had a couple of kinds of woodies and SAB CFs on the Swift, and stability really isn't a question with any of them. What I liked is the wider chord makes them a lot more responsive even at lower head speed. Some people have gone to higher speeds on the 550s, but I prefer not to. The Mavs gave me the performance I wanted without spinning them a billion RPM.
[edit] and I range check out to 75-100' with the ant down or the range check mode on in the tx. If it didn't work out to that distance I'd want to know what was up. [/edit]

Thats about what I like is 75-100 feet. I think I might get the Hitec neutron 6s for my heli I have read that the electron six is vulnerable I dont now how its vulnerable thats just what hitec's site says. My Raptor 50 has the G5's on it but cant really comment on them as I have only hovered it. i think the blades look great as well. The responsiveness at lower head speed will be right up my alley since Im not running a real high head speed.

Well I got my G5 Wide Chords today for my Mars just gotta wait on a receiver and I can test them out. They look like toothpicks compared to 600mm blades lol. Osterizer maybe by the first of next week I can let you know how they are. I have to work this weekend but I will try and get to the field for a few hours.

I bought osterizer gazaur stuff from him and he had the same problem i have with mine, i thought i was the only one with these issues?
His is a fully stock head also so the theory that because i stripped the anodizing off mine caused the problem is faulse.
Sure would be nice if gazaur reconize this as a problem and trys to change it.

Man, I'm sorry. I didn't notice that needed cleaning- how embarassing..... .
I hope you get yours working consistently the way you want them, BowerR64, but the MFS design is pretty widely known to be a little unsettled around neutral, even on megabuck birds like the Joker. I really liked it for the maneuverability, myself.
