Gyro orientation does NOT matter as long as, as you said, it's perpendicular to the tail boom and parallel to the floor.

I also found a wire I cannot explain. There is approximately what looks like an 18" servo wire with what looks like a transistor on the end. I am not sure if this went with the Heli, Volcano 30A ESC, or the Thunder AC6 Dual power charger. Any Ideas?

Still waiting on my receiver tomorrow. I hope this thing gets in the air by saturday morning....

hmm... is it an extension? is the "transistor" possibly a rf choke? so its servo connector on one end, but what type of connector on the other end?

No connector on the other end. Looks like a servo connector on one end and a transistor which is possibly pushed into a servo connector with shrink wrap over it. Everything is new so it came this way.

You can mount the gyro either on the top or the bottom of the boom block. Either works fine but the top is less safe for the gyro in a crash. The bottom mount is less conveineint as you can't see the light on the gyro.
The bag as a spacrer should be fine. You just need some clearence for the gear as they are never perfectly round. Also I use the endpoints to adjust the gyro. They make more sense to me than the other way. Set it at 50% in both HH and normal and then adjust from there.

How did you guys mount your AR6100s?I was thinking velcro or zip ties but looking at it, the outter part is like a thin plastic or paper which will probably rip so Iam thinking zip ties. (located on back of heli).

Also the AR6100 has a batt/bind as well.Iplug the ESC into throttle, chan 1 but nothing for batt/bind?

My current setup

Batt/Bind:???????????/
Ch1 : Throttle (esc)
CH2: Aileron (left cyclic servo)
CH3: Elevator (front or rear single cyclic servo)
CH4: Rudder (gyro)
CH5: Gear (gyro remote gain cable)
CH6: Aux1 (right cyclic servo)

Also for the gyro remote gain cable on the G401Bhas only one cable.Should I assume this goes into signal?

Also, How did people run the wires from the servos to the Receiver on the back? I see alot of people have them inside the frame. Won't they rub or get caught on the gear?

signal?

i ran mine inside the frame. you can use tip ties to keep the wires from wondering into bad places. i used that mesh cable sleeving like used on some computer power supplies. i ended up using a lot less wire ties because the sleeving causes the wires to want to make a much larger radius than the frame will allow. so they basically hold themselves in place, if that makes sense. imo, the sleeving looks a cleaner too. wax string is cool if you want to do something a little different than wire ties.

Yes, the receiver has 3 inputs. - +and signal. The servo wire on the end of the gyro(gain) has only one wire on a 3-prong plug.

Ok. Which way do the blades supposed to spin. I have everything connected up but haven't put on the blades yet. Also which holes do you guys use on the servo arms for the screw and ball? How far out or how many holes?

Is there a certain color combinatino for the motor wires?mine don't match up.

The blades spin clockwise when viewed from the top and I think that something like 15mm is correct for the servo arms.
If you have a brushless motor the wires go together any way and then you have to reverse any two of them if your motor runs backwards. You have a 50-50 shot at getting it correct the first time!

Ok.Ijust spun it up alittle and the front right servo started twitching, tipped the heli over and destroyed the blades. I don't know what to do with this now. Ihave a spare set of blades but why is this servo going nuts. It twitches a little bit with no motor, but as soon as the motor is turned on the servo goes NUTS.

Ibelieve the only damage piece is the blades.... Seriously that scared the crap out of me and I was in a smaller area than i would have liked to be...

Update:
Servo is dead.
Iremoved the dead servo replaced it with another HXT900. I'm planning on switching over to HS-65's for the cyclics soon. These things really are junk.

You'll love the Hitec HS-65 servo's if you do end up going that route... I run the metal gear version of those in my 450 and have never had a problem ever, even in some good crashes... In the long run although they cost a bit more, it saved me money from crashes etc resulting in poor electronics. You'll never look back with the Hitec's...... [8D]

I just took my 450 out a few days ago....

Great flying Jeff,  I like the website too.

Mack,  sorry to hear about your mishap.  you really cant expect much from a $5 dollar servo.  check your feathering shaft as it might be bent.

I have had the HXTs go bad but the ones on my heli now have been just fine for over two years of flying and I don't know how mant crashes! The only ones that I remember going bad were ones that froze to death when I tried to fly in the winter.
The Hitecs are best though.

I've only heard of a few instances where people get them bad from Hobby City, I rarely hear of them going bad after a couple flights. I bought 8 of them, 4 are on my EXI-450, the other 4 are in a GWS Corsair....I plan on getting 8 more.

Crash, How do you like the Corsair? I have a GWS Formosa in my Tower cart right now and am considering the Corsair instead.
I have flown a few planks but am not very experianced with them. This will be my first plane with alerions.

Lets put it this way....the Corsair is a very unforgiving plane, full scale or model(dubbed the "ensign killer" in WWII). This is my FIFTH, the other four were failures for many reasons. I accumulated knowlege from the first four, and built the fifth accordingly, and it's a NICE plane, but the pricetag was high due to engineering learning curves. Even #5 has a couple problems such as landing gear nose overs and weight/balance....but I'm working on that now. Go with the high wing with ailerons to start, you'll be further ahead. If you ever decide to do a Corsair....I documented this last build with photos:

Crash, I ordered the Formosa. It's a low wing park flyer. I have flown high wing trainers and found them totally boring.I figured that if I can fly a 450 heli in FFF I can handle a plane. I could be wrong though![:-]

Looks good. I recommend brushless direct drive because the stock motor and gearbox just aren't there. You see I did a micro ply firewall, I also used .030 plastic epoxied into the weak areas on the inside, as well as lining the battery area with balsa and .030 plastic where needed. Where the servos mount, I put .030 plastic squares to screw the servos to. This is the motor I used with a 9-4 propeller (1/4" bore):

here are the batteries I use:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6307

Just to give you some ideas.....

LMAO....nawwwwhhhhh...go back about 15 posts. I got one of those EXI-450 plastic edition v2's....it's almost exactly the same as the standard except a couple small things...paid $54 shipped...that ain't bad. I can do loops and backflips fairly well now. I will try a roll when we get the right weather though.
