Stable 450?
I've been hovering my Blade 400 for about a year now, and have since been flying a Shuttle ZXX 30 size nitro and a Raptor 50 V2. With the Rappy, I can do loops, rolls, stall turns, flips, forward flight, and hovering in all orientations. However, on the 400, I crash every time I break out of a hover. It seems to be a bit too unstable, albeit more stable than a CP.
I'm looking for a more stable 450 class heli. I'm looking at the following helis:
[ul][*] 1. Next-D/Curtis Youngblood Rave[*] 2. T-Rex 450[*] 3. EXI 450 (I'm aware of the controversy of X-Heli/NitroPlanes, I'm looking more at the stability of the heli)[*] 4. Thunder Tiger Mini Titan[*] 5. Open to recommendations.
[/ul]
I mostly fly my nitro birds, but want a 450 class to fly in tighter quarters and when I travel (something a bit more of a challenge than my mCX).
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Out of the heli's you just listed I've heard from others who own the Trex 450 and the Mini-Titan that the Titan is much more stable. Noob might be able to verify, as I believe he has both. Let us know what ya decide....

RE: Stable 450?
Thanks for the replies guys.
As for the 500, I'm looking at a 450 so I can pull the electronics from the 400 (Hitec HS-65HB servos on cyclic, all else is stock) and put them in it. At least for temporary purposes, I'm thinking of giving the EXI 450 ARF a shot. It's only $60 from X-Heli (again, I am aware of the X-Heli controversy. I've done business with Nitro Planes, which is the owner of X-Heli, before and haven't had any issues.), so if the heli sucks, I won't be out more than the repair of my Blade 400. I've also seen one fly, and it seems to fly better than my 400.
noob,
Out of the helis you listed, which one would fly best on the e-Flite 1800mah 3S, e-Flite 420 outrunner/35A speed control, e-Flite G110 Gyro/DS-75 servo, and HiTec HS-65HB servos on cyclic?
Nice flying J.
Thanks again guys.

RE: Stable 450?
I've never actually checked the headspeed of the 400. However, the headspeed is set to 100% on the transmitter. As for flybar weights, I've left it stock.

RE: Stable 450?
the 1800mah is a tad unpowered. you're going to have to get a 2200mah 3s. but the exi is probably you're best bet. and its cheap too. if you're blade is a little squirrely try adding expo on the dx6i. set the aileron and elevator expo to 25% and it should help tame it abit.
If i had to pick a 450 out of the bunch i would go with Rave 450, second choice is the outrage g5

The Blade 400 could be giving ya a bit more probs also just because its very light for its class category thus making it more responsive. Kinda like the 500 class MSH Protos being light and responsive compared to the heavier more stable Trex 500...
I've never flown any other 450 class heli to give ya a good comparison between others, but I do know that in my first few test hovers with my Trex 450 coming from hovering a CPP it was very stable in comparison. Here's a 38 second clip of my Trex with the TX visible and it didn't take much to have to keep it in control and I could even keep my left thumb off the stick for a bit.

If you go the EXI route that would be great for many factors including that the parts are compatible with the Trex 450 in which makes it so great for availability of parts generally locally from your LHS or any LHS nearby in your travels. The Outrage and the Rave heli's are very sweet machines, and they also enable ya to fine tweak with more adjustments like in the head assembly area which you could adjust for a mild or wild set-up so to speak. If your looking to be conservative with your choice the EXI would treat ya right and much cheaper than the Align Trex 450.The 2200 mah lipo if you choose to upgrade will also add a bit more weight to help with a bit of stability also.
For my style if I had to choose between any of the heli's listed above I'd go for the Outrage G5. But that's my sweet tooth, and my personal preference...Lol.. But with the components you listed and it was me, I'd have to go the EXI route. [8D]
Hope this helps some to confuse ya more...
Cheers,
~ Jeff

RE: Stable 450?
I was doing some looking around on HeliProz, and found a Mini Titan Kit w/o electronics for $115. Not quite twice the price of the EXI, but it's from Thunder Tiger. How stable is the Mini Titan in comparison to the other helis and how well would my electronics package work with it? I'd rather spend a bit more and get a better heli that's better supported by the maker, if it'll work for my needs.
Here's a link to it: [link=http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=101472]http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=101472[/link]
Thanks again guys.

RE: Stable 450?
Here is a link to a thread that was posted in the Trex forum in October about the Titan and a few responses from gents who have at least owned the Trex 450 and the Titan, and well..... You can read the rest...Lol.... I've heard great things about that heli and even have a few friends who have it and absolutley LOVE IT... [8D] I've always still wanted one, but dang there's so many nice heli's out there and I guess ya can't have em' all... Heh... Or can ya ?!... [8D]

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5974113/tm.htm here is the link for the Mini Titan thread, good reading waiting for parts to get my MT in the air, what little bit ive had it hovering, seems really stable.
