New to Heli
I've been out of RC for a while I used to fly planes but just haven't had the time after we bought our house, to many summer projects. Looking o get into the smaller Helis and was wondering what to get started with. I'v been looking at the Esky fixed pitch Honey Bee but was wondering for the price difference if a peson would be better off starting off with a cp so he doesnt have to renvest when he is ready to move up. Is there that much difference in flight characteristics?

RE: New to Heli
Welcom to the helicopter addiction.
Ther are two schools of thought on the question.
Some say to start with a FP and then move to a CP
Others say the opposite start with a CP and move up in size as you like.
I started with a FP heli, and then moved to a CPheli.
But if I had it to do over I would start with a CP type heli. They are actually a bit easier to fly, and where you want to end up.
If you start with a FP type heli you have to relearn to fly when you move to a CP heli. So you migh as well start where you want to be.
I found a great sale onEsky Honey Bee King 3 RTFs $144.95 In stock.

Hope this helps.

RE: New to Heli
I just gotmy HBK-3from USHobby Supply.
I ordered it onWednesday evening, it shipped Thursday morning USPSPriority mail andIt arrived in todays mail.
Wow great service and price. I checkd prices on the net and was not able to find chaeper in the US.
Now to order King-3 parts that I know that I will need. US Hobby Supply will be my first choice when ordering.
I agree with DIsney 1. I started with a Coax and then to a HBK-2. THe CP was not that hard to fly. Not easy mind you.
But tried to fly a friends Falcon 40, that was like trying to tame a drunk Squirell. Wouldrather fly my HBK-2& 3
Welcome to helicopters, we were all new once and most of us are more than happy to help.
Ask away and someone will answer.

RE: New to Heli
This was a post from only a couple of days ago - might be of interest to you. I think it is an FP heli - but the guys seem to think it's a cool heli to begin on.
FOR BEGINNERS WHO ARE ABOUT TO BE "STRUGGLING WITH SINGLE ROTOR BASICS"!
For those beginners who might be lurking here on the "struggling with single rotor basics" thread, I have some news for you. Walkera has come out with the perfect first heli for someone about to start learning to fly a single rotor heli. This is the heli that most of us on this thread would have died for when we first started! It is a fixed ptich heli the same size as the popular Honey Bee FP, but this new heli has a shaft drive tail instead of the troublesome tail motor!
This should be the perfect heli for someone learning to fly single rotor and wants to keep crash cost to a minimum, and repairs simple. Less overall cost, and less time repairing means more time learning to fly!

RE: New to Heli
Thats the kind of answers I was looking for.I miss flying but just dont have the time to pack everything up and drive 20+ miles to the field plus pay club membership,AMA dues and everything to fly 3-4 times a year. I still have all my planes and hope to someday get back into that type of flying again. Too many hobbies and not enough time:-)
