Looking for advice on purchasing either a Blade 400 or Helimax 400. I have some experience with helicopters.....just not sure which way to go here......any suggestions from owners would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at the RTF versions of both.

Both will fly about the same. Go with the Blade. Horizon hobbies has excellent CS.

If you are looking at something that will last for years without having to be upgraded look into the Align 450 Sport supper combo (it has everything except TX/RX) and then pick your TX/RX of choice.

Just bought a Blade 400 a couple days ago and absolutely love it. I've flown a Trex before, can't say I can tell much of a difference. Then again, I'm not a competition level 3D pilot or anything, I just like putzing around and doing basic manuavers.

I would recommend the b400 also. If you like to crash like most of us heli pilots do, you will likely upgrade to better servos since the stock ones have nylon gears that like to strip. If you do upgrade the b400 servos, check your ESC temp after a few minutes flying. The stock servos have a low current draw and upgraded servos will likely use more power.

Rather than upgrade the stock 25a ESC, consider adding a separate BEC like the Sport BEC from Dimension Engineering or the programmable 10amp BEC from Castle Creations.

neither get a trex 450 or clone so when you crash you can get parts at nice price and not a arm and a leg imo
