Rueben
There is huge gap that needs to be filled with scrap balsa or filler when ataching the wings. The only real structure that holds the wings are two plywood taps that enter fuselage formers. Think you can sandwich this taps with new plywood taps that grab the old tabs in wing and formers in fuselage. Your plane looks sharp should be flying, your motor is for 4s to give decent rpm to the fan.

Doug

Yes wife gets histerical.

Will put the fences after priming and ready to paint. Like to save efort since think will neeed to sand primer to fill small imperfections.

Take a look at the buy and sell, ariplanes, jets, right know. There is a eam/steve neil ta 183 for sale. Bouht a El bandido 90 mm at the same place this december and mu wife will kill me if getting another kit.

Cheers

Worked this weeken priming the model. Had problems since used a old stored primer. Had to do a lot of cleaning of air brush and air painting gun since both did not worked. Discovered the primer was to thick and needed a reducer for the air brush or paint gun to work.

Cant wait to see your huck painted, I've been taking some lessens form a buddy on air brushing he is very good at it. The first thing he taught me we the paint needs to be thin consistency of almost water. Here is a before and after pic of the Typhoon we painted he did did most of it.

Doug:

NiceTyphoon, you goy there.

What brand is it?

What painting are you using for painting?

I will use MODEL MASTER enamel for the Ta-183 and PPG omni single coat for the Y/A Sting ray that I´m also painting.

Cheers,

Juan

It's and out of production Sapac Typhoon Euro Fighter foamy. My buddy just used water base enamel paint for the tiger Meet Scheme on the Typhoon. But he does use PPG enamel on high end projects as well. He told me I need to clear the paint to protect it so I'm testing some flat clear to make sure it is compatible with the foam.

Going one small step forward..... First coat of primer sanded off, will touch up only the problem areas with more primer, and ready for paint.

Juan getting close are your knees starting to knock? What was the paint scheme you chose?

As for me I just got finished with a 6 week long trip and know my son came home for a visit from the Marines so no progress on my Huck. I did repair the retracts and air leaks now I need to reinstall and retest them. I still need to fix a small crack in the right wing panel shouldn't be a big problem, the Spektrum receiver is in then I need to test the EDF unit. If all goes well I should be able to fly it in a few weeks.... I hope! We been having a windy "15 to 35mph winds" Spring so far hopefully Summer will be different.

Hy Doug:
Thanks for fallowing. Share with your family and then the hobby. Some times this hobby can be adictive and is hard with the family.

Will go with the green camo but with a yello front.

Cheers,

Juan

Hi Juan

Your Ta-183 Looks great! When I balanced mine I used a Great Planes CG balancer from the bottom of the wing. For the first flight I made it a little nose heavy and I only needed to move the battery back a few millimeters, I also balanced it laterally so one wing wasn't heaver then the other. Good luck with the maiden and remember The ta-183 will glide so setup for a long landing approach.

Thanks Doug for fallowing this thread in the last year.

Had a hard time balancing, esc at back, extra servo for steering at back, rx at back, extra landing gear behind cg, so run out of battery front movement and had to ballast the plane, 2 oz of lead to the front. Also opened the front tomslide a 700 mha 4.8 v nimh battery.

There has to be a pilot

My original lipo for this plane got old took to much time in building this plane. Have to buy a new set of lipo.

Cheers

Had the oportunity to maiden this plane this weekend sunday 9 2012.

It was raining driving to the field, my field is 75 km from the city so I was lucky to get to the flying site and there was no rain for the moment.

Have to say this plane is a solid flier, was afraid at the begining, but fallowing all the recomendations of previus fliers that post in forums there were no bad habits encountered in the two flights I had the oportunity to make.

420 watts were more than enough for this plane.

The motor configuration is suposed to run with 4s but 3S with high Crate lipo worked like charm. My old batteries 25C 3200mha 3S were only gving 225 WATTS loosing voltage to 9 volts from begining. High Crate lipo sustained 11 volts giving 420 watts freshly charged.

Have three videos from my not so good two camera guys. Sorry for the cheasy music on the edited version.

Will get some good flying fotage next time.

Landing

Have to say:
The plane is fast and eficient with the watts used.
If not aprouched correctly the plane glides all the runuway as can see on landing having a flip at the end.
It is expectacular on the air.
My landing gear mod worked flawlesly even after the flip at end of runuway.

Cheers

Juan

Yesterday chrashed and broke a wing off.

It was pure negligence of my part. It is fixable but now is going to be repaired nice plane.

Errors
1. Replaced working perfect wemotec fan for a change sun ten blade just for the sound with the same esc and motor. Knew this was marginal setup and was at risk of burning motor or esc if not carefull. Had a thermal shut down and had to make a forced landng with minor problems. At my shop was reading 75 amp and 700 watts way to much for motor. At club was reading 90 amp and 900 watts with 75 esc and 500watt motor. Think was very lucky in not burning the plane in the air.

2. After the forced landing noticed that my steering wheel had theplastic arm for steering almost broken but steering.

So for being negligent and wanting the excitment of flying with the known risks did: Limited the throtle to 500 watts( half stick) and went to give it one more try. Startedthe run and as plane steered of center COULD NOT correct because of known problem and before the plane wennt of the runaway forced the take off with know concecuences, a stall. Was lucky since the plane crashed in the grasS and notpavement, ans since it is raining season al the dirt is soft. My main damage is broken wing that came of clean so I have to glue it back, and fix some scratches at front. This is a though plane can say.

Will put a picturer later.

Hi Juan

Sorry to hear your misfortune you did a great jog on the Huck I'm sure you'll make it look good as new. Or you can give it that battle tested look! The CS fan will burn motors quick the setup has to be right normally lowering the Kv and adding a cell is usually the method of choice. But how did it sound? I bet awesome!! I have a CS 70 with an E-flite 2150Kv on 6 cells putting out 1400 watts for my Sapac T-45 Goshawk, I'm hoping to fly it soon. Also here is some good setup info for the CS70 on RCg, I used this info to setup mine.

Hy Doug:

The sound was awesom and very quiet compared to the wemo.Have a videothat took a friend beforeIcrashed it.This planes uses so litle watts to fly properly that think is not feasable to use the change sun since needs a bigger motor, more cells and at the end more weight. My plane is heavy in the back as it is, so a bigger motor means more lead at the front.

Will istall the wemotec fan again and replace the KONTRONIC MOTOR wiith a het 2w motor. This motor gives more watts with less wheight than the kontronic motor with 3 cells.

Can confirm that the eurpean is way better than all the china stuff out there. The jeti 75 amp and kontronic survived the abuse I gived them with out burning. For how long more is the question.
