Default Banana Hobby 90mm F-18 CG

Hey!!

I'm just about done building a Banana Hobby 90mm F-18. The manual says to have the CG about 4" from the leading edge of the wing root. It doesn't look quite right there and I had to cut a hole in the bulkhead so I could move the battery about 2.5" forward.

Can someone verify the manual is correct, or supply the CG location they use.

Thanks

I had no problem with mine using a 3 cell 3700 mah battery. It flew ok with the battery all the way forward or aft. I think it probably looks odd because of the lift created by the forward fuselage and "Hood".

I'm not sure we are talking about the same plane. Mine has a 6 cell 3700 mah battery.

I had the 90mm F-18 I flew it with a 18.5V 5 s 4400. I placed the battery in the middle of the battery compartment area cant tell you the CG location but I used the servo wire in the wing as starting point.when taking off fly the model with 100% elevator don't use dual rate on take off, the model does not have a enough elevator until you get the model up in the sky screaming at full throttle and make damn sure the stock nose strut is tight set your EXpo to around 8-10% on the rudder adjust out any play, if you don't ground handling is a nightmare. mine lasted 3 flights 4th flight the nose strut came loose on take off made a hard right and flip destroyed the model.

Doug,
I have the same problem taking off with 6 cells. I can imagine it's really difficult with only 5. I just put flaps on mine and I hope I can get off the ground smoother with about 20 degrees. I also just put in expo on the steering...
Crashed mine due to a radio problem last month. Bought a new fuse and it's ready to fly.....soon as I buy a new radio! And maybe when all the flooding here stops.

Doug,
Fortunately I didn't have to. There is a dealer here who operates out of a where house. One phone call and we meet in a parking lot and do the deal.
My new radio will have ailavator capability so I may put that and rudder into my F-18. Lack of rudder is the big thing I miss with this plane.
