Not sure what to make of your crash then! I followed the manual, I think it was 180mm back if I remember correctly. I turned the plane on it's back and retracted the gear when I checked the CG. Mine shot up and needed down trim on the first flight, so my stabs are centered around the bottom of the servo. The control throws in the manual are perfect for me, plenty of elevator and crisp aileron response for nice rolls.

I've been reading up on glassing and finishing methods and stumbled across your thread. Your F-100 looks great!
I've never heard of Durham's Water Putty before. Just curious, why do you mix it 50-50 with spackle? Is it heavy or does it not fill well when thinned?

After forty-five days in operation...the first WW squadron (F100F) had one aircraft remaing. The F100 didn't have the performance to survive in the North Vietnam airspace. As I said earlier, I don't know if the F100 ever had the WW tail code. That may have started with the f105. Anyway, what a fitting tribute to the Hun by using the WW paint scheme. I'll keep looking for any special external differences.
The pictures provided are from a plastic modelers research and finished model. Also, the F100 was succesful in destroying SAM sites. The first WWs were so secret that the planes lacked any conventional tail flash. So it may be they never did have the WW on the fin. There was some special electronic gear added to the planes, so there should be some additional antennas mounted. I'll keep looking.

Keith, Great info on the WW Hun's, sorry they were not up to the task! I'll do some reading of my own, I do have some reference material, see what kind of paint jobs I can come up with that interest me.
Thanks Juan, appreciate your comments on my work. You know how it is when you get used to working with an old PC program and it just feels comfortable? That is the case with me, the program I use to create markings and decals is ancient! It's called Picture Publisher, doubt you could find it and it probably would not be worth it! I made some killer decals for my George Miller F-4 using it though, you will be able to see those when I get to that point on that thread. I have Photo Shop but never use it, just pick one you like and go for it!
I flew in the very windy conditions last weekend, check out the video to see how I did!

Fantastic landing you made there Luke, shows the F-100 has really
grown on you, hope to start one in a few months, will be ordering
kit in a couple more weeks. Congrats on a fantastic looking aircraft......

This is the scheme I'll probably use. It isn't a D model scheme but I like it and will use anyway.
Nice bit of flying in the wind. Looks like you are very comfortable with the plane.

Thanks Bill and Keith!
Keith, that is a simple paint job, but if you can replicate the metal look I think it will look nice.
For those that want to add the air brake option to their HUN, I made a drawing to assist you! It's pretty self explanatory, but please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
It's an easy mod, because it basically has to be added after the plane is assembled, I added mine after glassing, that way you have nice sharp edges.
I use Mod Podge to seal any exposed foam and prep it for painting, after cutting out the brake area the foam is then sealed with Mod Podge and painted. If you ever have to repair foam and you use a filler like the Spackle and Putty I use, seal it with Mod Podge before painting.

Got the Bullpup missile finished with the inner pylons. Also added the extended fuses on the 750lb bombs, flew it two more times today, it was a beautiful day and it looked really cool in the air all loaded up!
Here is the template for the inner rack, also a picture for the measurement. Just measure from the belly pan and draw a line. For finishing the ordinance I just used Mod Podge, no glassing is necessary.

Removed the tanks and bombs to see what she would do, I'm very pleased with the performance. Had a inferior camera to film with this weekend, not my HD stereo camera, but you can get an idea of the performance. This is not scale flying obviously, I was wringing it out for some fun flying! With the scale ailerons it has very crisp and fast aileron response for sure, the tanks and bombs really dampen their effect. On a 3 min flight I'm putting back about 2700 mAh in the batteries, so I'm very pleased with this set up.

Still flying this bird, ChangeSun fan and Castle 100amp ESC is working fine. Other than the decals I made coming off of the vertical stab, the HUN does not have a scratch on her! The problem with the decals I think was that I used very old decal paper and I did leave the F-100 in the hot Texas sun a few times over the summer. The decal for the nose art and the stars and bars are holding up great though.
