Default EDF trust versus Plane weight?

Hi,

When my plane weights by example 5 kg do I need then a EDF setup that gives me 5 kg trust? (1 to 1)

This HK EDF gives 4.9 kg trust http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

and 3000 watt

Magic numbers for modelers say you need 400 Watts/Kg, that means 2000 watt would be enough?

It is a pure theoretical question, I am looking thing up for a later project of a F18, so I need tons of information!

I just finished a SuperSniperXL with a Wemo 90mm with 2000W of output and the plane weighs 9.5lbs..or 210W/lb I found it to be sufficient but wanting more power for better ROG and speed.

that's about 4.3 kg, so 2000 watt should do it but I think the mean minimum 400 watt/kg.

If you put in this EDF http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...200w_10s_.html You should have a lot more power I guess?

I don't know how to shoos an EDF setup comparing my flying weight?

Anny information or tabels or ... ?

Hopefully you are correct.
I remain skeptical re HK's "claimed' Performance/thrust numbers.
I've not yet found any to be even close to what is claimed.
Perhaps this one is going to be the exception to the tradition ??

Your magic formula works but increase it a litle.

400-600 per kilogram.

Above 7kg probably turbine power is best since edf is power hungry and will get few minutes of flight.

You can get affordable proven systems with out breaking the bank

wemotec or jetfan fans.:... Both are very good

There are also high end schuebeller, stumax, vassa fans.

het motors 650-700 series motors.

There is also the hobbyking way bur be carefull. Being cheap can be expensive.

The bigger your kg model wheight the higher cells you want 8-12s configuration.

Visit the other site rcxxxxgroups, omit xxx, there is were most edf guys are.

cheers,

juan
