I have been in this hobby for 35yrs and have flown many types of plane. EDF's used to be kind of a joke at the field til these new high performance jets came along. and you can get flying a 90mm edf with flaps/retracts/digital servos/gear doors/esc/edf/landing lights for $400 PNP thats cheeper than all my prop planes and it flies better.

Foam planes have come a long way. There are some turbine conversions that work very well.
I'm still sceptical about the foam planes. Don't like how they scratch to easily and after a few flights they look terrible.
Like the idea of glassing them so you have the apearence of a composite and the economy of foam.
Take a look at jepejets.com
Got a tomahawk viper jet for edf 70mm, glassed it but have not finish it. Need to sand a lot.
