After the 6 blades from CHANGESUN Ø 120mm 12 blades rotor test (see posts: 90,91)
I decided to make a 4 blades rotor and I check the parameters at 100% rpm.

During the test the ESC switched off the motor due to the high ampere.
I had set up max.150A in the ESC.
CHANGESUN Ø 120mm 12/4 blades
CASLE PHOENIX EDGE HV 120
12S ZIPPY 5000mAh 45C
I used in this test:
-motor timing : low
-pwm rate .....: 8kHz
-power out ....: 100%
-static thrust .: 45N

When gman4reel (Sarasota,Fl) had shown me(us) his 12S tests’ results (second page) I decided I would make a few tests with an other 12S elektro motor and I would compare the test results.
Now I have a less used VASAFAN Ø120/7 blades EDF unit with a HET TYPHOON 700-98-840 motor.
First I am going to insert this motor to the the CHANGESUN Ø120/4 blades (new rotor) EDF with intake lip 2.

I put one of these together with a c580l 580kv motor and it pulled 78 amps peak on 12's. What it really needs for better performance is a intake lip, any chance of sharing the 3d print file here to save me glassing one up.

I designed and drew an intake lip only for CHANGESUN Ø 120mm 4 blades .I do not have plan of intake lip for HAOYE FAN.
Which type intake lip would like to have? See post: 35,72,75!
There is a SOLID EDGE student version. It is a free CAD program. You can save here your plan in the .stl file then printed it .
I can send mine file if it help you.

Jozsef, after all these years of testing what model are you fitting it in? That last pic of CF shroud casing covering the whole motor, what cooling does the motor gets? I don't like the idea of that at all!

I had an ALFA MIG-15, I liked it very much. After this model I decided I would like to build a bigger EDF model.
I think 1800-2000mm wingspan for the EDF model will be good. This size looks well in the air but it needs the big EDF and the 12S accumulators.

Joseph Frost - Thanks for your advice!
Firstly,I renew a FALCON120 with fixed gears which I bought earlier.
I am going to insert CHANGESUN Ø 120mm 4 blades (new rotor),TURNUGY C580L-870 and 12S accumulators.
If this project will be successfull, then I would like to build a semi scale EDF model

My first test of VASAFAN Ø120mm 7 blades was unsuccessful.
I used 2x6S 4500mAh 45c accumulators in this test which I had bought from a modeler.
During this test the accumulators were defected .See the picture!
After this test I had a conversation with an experienced helicopter modeler friend who uses 12S accumulators in his model.
He told me:
1. If your motor uses high ampere then never buy used accumulators
because you don’t know corretly how they were charged and discharged.
2. If you buy them be very – very careful with them during the test.

I test the EDF outside in the nature because one of my modeler friends’ garage burnt out due to the LiPo accumulators.
During the tests I use a ROBBE FC-18 JUNIOR radio.
When I use something new on the EDF, I stand on the safety side and 3-5m away from the EDF table.
When I realized the changing of the size of the accumulator in that test, I did not know suddenly what I would have had to do,because I had never seen this before. Then, after a few seconds I had reduced the rpm/ampere and waited. After some minutes I disconnected the accumulators and the ESC.
I am going to make some tests with a brand new Turnigy Graphine 5000mAh 12S 45C accumulators because I would like to know how it changes the parameters of the EDF.

Mate, you don't need to stand 5 meters away from your test stand! If you are behind the running power unit you are safe if it blew up!
With better quality, higher C rate packs you'll notice dramatic difference in performance figures.
With few of mine 127mm fans on 12S I'm getting 9.5 to 10.5 kilo static pull at some 200 to 240 Amps, subject to capacity and Crate of batteries I use.
This is not on the stand, but fitted inside model. There are lot of idiots on other forums who never believed my figures and laugh at me calling me all the crap, but it's always me who is laughing while flying my models.

Thanks for your useful advice. Congratulation on your successful EDFmodel and flights.
I think I will use your setup in my following semi-scale EDFmodel if it necessary.
This setup allows me to build a little bit bigger EDF model.
Please, write me (us) your EDF setup. Thanks in advance.
