Default TURNIGY C580L -870 Brushless Inrunner EDF motor

Hi,

Has anybody set up information for this motor? I couldn't find it on the internet. I'd like to compare it in my set up.
I tested 10S and 12s in a HAOYE 4,5/115mm

WELLPOWER SE 10S 5000mAh 30C

CASLE PHOENIX EDGE HV 120

I set magnetic poles in motor 6 in the CC Datalog.
I think the rpm is good now.

In this test I wanted to check ESC setup ”Fixed-Endpoints” before I test 12S in this EDF setup.
During the test the motor had stopped when I reduced the RPM and then it didn’t work.
An electro motor specialist saw the motor and said ”The motor has wire cut off ”.

You have to have an intake lip for the fans, without an intake lip tip of the fan rotor (fan blades) don't "bite" and you loose static thrust and efflux

Contact airsally on RCG... or get a 120mm intake lip from effluxrc.com and get good static thrust \ amp and efflux numbers

The 870 KV is too high to be efficient for the haoye 115

The 115 rotor nearly exact angle, pitch and diameter as the VIOFan rotor...

I think the KV for the viofan is in the 700s IINM

Thanks for the info, I will see it.

I guess you are right. The motor KV is too high at the max. 100% RPM in HAOYE EDF. At the max. RPM the ampere was higher than allowed and the motor was too hot, therefore I chose lower RPM where the motor is warm but not too hot during the test and where the fan works well.

I am only getting to know this category.

I gave the motor to a modeler who knows very well the model electro motors. He has repaired many electro motors so far . He had dismounted the motor and took some photos of it. Here are his pictures.
He found the mistake.

It was very simple, unbelievable mistake. The wire cut off was outside the motor at the one plug of the three ones.
I guess this happened. The wire burnt out/moved out a little / melted out during the tests when the ESC, the motor and the wires were very very hot. After these tests I didnt check the plugs because the motor worked well. The plug held position until the last test, when it had moved out and it didnt have connection. I guess I was lucky this happened on the ground and not in the air in a model.

The motor works well but it is going to get new bearings.

The motor work well.
I repeated the 10S, throttle 100%test because thewire connection of the motor was bad and this failure caused a small EDF vibration .

The maximum thrust is exactly 4,84kg at the throttle 100% and the maximum rpm.

I do with the 600kv motor HK motor here - 580kv

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Motor_4kw.html

- LPB Power 12s 5000mah
- YEP ESC 120 low timing
- Haoye 7 blade fan (WITH AIR Sally INTAKE LIP ***)
- Horizontal thrust stand with pull meter.

- Thrust - 15 lbs peak at 4300 watts (45 volts (the pack IR's ~ 1 a cell) x 95 amps)

*** without intake lip the thrust will be low and so will efflux (exhaust side air speed) due to air not going into rotor as smooth as it could with an intake lip.

Hello Josef,

Without an intake lip the air becomes turbulent around the edge of the front of the shroud and virtually starves the rotor from air smooth air.

The total watts and thrust and efflux will be reduced as a result

Hello erh7771,
Thanks for your good advice.I will make an intake lip for my fan.
I only got static thrust 35N, at 27047 rpm and at 99,1A

12S ZIPPY 5000mAh 45C
HAOYE 5inch/127mm 7 blades
CASLE PHOENIX EDGE HV 120

I used in this test:
-motor timing : low
-pwm rate : 8kHz
-power out : 78%
-static thrust : 35N

Could anybody tell me where can I buy a 4 or 5 blades rotor for HAOYE 5inch/127mm?
I think the 870kv motor is too high for 7 blades HAOYE 5inch/127mm.

What is the makeshift cooling system you have on you motor?? How was that done and with what materials. Do you have the thrust figures for this setup??
