Default "70mm, FALCON"

Latest addition to my fleet will be this "F-16" foamy I found again in a junk shop after no one wanted to put hands on it for the last 10 years!
Minor foam damage after it must have been pulled in&out of the box over the years. Most of glued joints are brittle and cracked so it will need
some attention.
After offering to the desperate vendor some peanuts for it, he smiled and took it. I just love these bargains to make most off"
Designed only as a simple Elevon I'm going to complicated a little by adding Ailerons and using full Elevator control as 3/8.
Light enough for hand launching but catapult launch is so much more fun so that's further mod I'll do to it.
The monotonous grey-blob scheme will be lighten up with some bright

Out of the box.

Aileron addition.

AIL. servo inst.

Modified ESC.

Check, balance & service to the power unit.

Re-designed Elevator set up.

Un-intended maiden flight ended in total disaster, due to the total lack of power with the stock power unit on 3S. It was a bit of "3D" roller coaster U-shaped circuit to crash land it out of sight, thanks to my added Ailerons function, with the stock Elevon set up there would be no hope to control the model at such a louzy slow speed.
Lucky stars, not a scratch after I picked it up, strait back on the work bench to replace the power plant to hot 4S set up.
With the stock fan the peak thrust was 450 Grams, (Instruction manual claimed 700!) now with the new 70mm/4S power unit it peaks at 900 grams, at close to one kilo AUW with 4S/2.75Ah/65+C pack, after scale static bench test, but while holding the model in hands vertical it pulls easily up so it should move now.

Ail. hook up.

Bungee set up mod.

Size next to 90mm Starmax.

Getting my Darl no her knees is not always easy!

Unintended flight out of control flight.

Power unit swap,

ESC replacement.

Now with 4S at double power.

On its maiden flight.

Shines in the sunlight.

Back after its mission complete.

To finish it off,

final ESC closure.

Satisfied boy with the new toy.
Absolved its first flight on hot 4S set up, a different thing compare to the stock 3S fan. It's a missile, now with aprx. 1.3 to one, power/weight ratio, needs lot of travel reduction after bit of over controlling it initially. Just love it.
