"Small-Smaller-Smallest" EDF jet.
After creating the "Big-Bigger-Biggest" EDF foamy jet, my life would never be complete unless I do "Small-Smaller-Smallest" EDF jet. Pics tell the story.
"SSS", scale version of my 10Kw giant "BBB', layout.
To start with.
The smallest set of hinges I could find.
Gradual progress.
Belly up preps.
First touch of colour.
Taking shape.
It's dwarfed next to smallest EDF in my fleet.
Power unit mods.

The heart of the build.
Tiny "Afro" 20A/ESC can't handle it!
Runs immaculate on larger 40A unit, before I fit in 30A programmable one.
The belly up.
Minor nose re-shape job only for aesthetics.
Thanks Mate, LE balsa shaped trims helps to stiffen up the foam frame work. Nothing's worse than flexing fuse. Finished the power unit today, hooking it up on tiny 20A/ESC to check the run, no good,
the small speedo couldn't handle it, surging anything past 65% of the throttle.
While waiting for the programmable one on order I re-hooked it to larger 40A one, all good, smooth fan run at less than 10A current draw but didn't run it with the bell ring intake as I have to wait some 12 hours for the bond cure.
Didn't like the rounded nose so minor re-shape job on the way.

Reprogrammed ESC for perfect power unit run.
Just about ready for its maiden, this one might be a real handful to sort out.
Fully complete, after experimenting with few different speedos. Now fitted with program. 30A one, that runs the power unit on tiny 850mA packs. Waiting for a smaller, lighter receiver, but might have a go with the CF one hooked up currently next few days if my patience runs out.

Unfortunately, totally under powered model with the current set up. Even after numerous mods to the air frame and 15 hand launches so far the model got barely airborne!
A new 40mm power unit is on the way to upgrade the enlarged frame and totally new even smaller and much lighter frame will be created for the current 30mm fan.
No calories, nose dive stall soon after hand launch.
Minor mods.
Further wing extension.
Lack of power!

While waiting for the larger 40mm power plant to fit in this one (above), I have built last few days much smaller, lighter one, to fit with the spare 30mm fan. I tried to keep the weight to minimum, 200 grams total ready take off weight with 3S/850 flight pack. After static test run it seem to have 1/1 power to weight ratio but only hope it will move fast enough to stay it in the air with its miniscule air frame of some 5dm/2 flying area only.
Smaller and lighter frame for the 30mm fan.
Taking up the new JFJ Studio "Stealthex"shape.
Power unit install.
Testing all sorts of speedos to get the best out of it.
Gradual build progress.
Nearing completion.

The "SSS#2" has been upgraded to 40mm EDF power plant, this time it will run only on 2S, still waiting for few packs to test fly it.
The "SSS#3" hes been totally redesigned with the new lighter, sleeker air frame using the original 30mm power plant, ready to go after new batteries arrive.
(SSS torque roll effect)
New 40mm power unit to be fitted.
Looks lot more promising this time.
It's got to fly now!
Brand new design now with the original 30mm power set up.
Power unit placed in center line of the fuse.
4.4g Elevon servos fitted.
Bit of art work added by the maestro.
Identical mock-up created to sort out CofG.
It takes a lot of work to get it right! Even Boeing couldn't do it!
Sleek "Kok-Kord" shape from JFJ Studio.
The smallest, lightest EDF jet in my fleet at 200 grams AUW!

Quite a handful to hand launch, the smaller the more finiky, so just created my good old "Ski jump" launch platform to be able to have both thumps in the tranny. Still sorting out few bugs.
Nice KE launch.
Pit stop at magic flying site.

The smaller they are the the more difficult, the air is not thick enough for this one! This tiny project must be the biggest pain in the neck so far in my pocket of experience with EDF jets, but still working on it. Mod after mod, still not performing to my expectation but getting bit closer.
Final winglet mod.
Almost perfected my hand launching after some 50+ goes so far!
More and more test flying.
"Golden SSS" in action.
